Chet -- I don't know what more you want from Hillary. She has been blasting Trump at events, press conferences, and interviews. Her TV ads in Colorado show Trump making fun of the handicapped journalist again and again, along with other clips of Trump being unpresidential. I assume Florida is the same.
Hillary Clinton does not have the natural charisma of President Obama. But she can still be effective in her own way. Her strength is her wonkish grasp of the issues down to the smallest detail; and also the trust, respect and support she has from prominent politicians on both sides of the aisle starting with President Obama who really admires her. She's a highly astute and accomplished political professor in that regard.
I would not try to change her persona into a more charismatic character as that will come across as phoniness. She is what she is, and I really like and appreciate her as a fellow wonk. In the final analysis, it is the hard work she puts in behind the scenes away from the media cameras that makes her effective. I have read about how she was respected by both Democrats and Republicans in the Senate, but I believe this quote from Eleni Kounalakis, United States Ambassador to Hungary, in a 2015 CNN article, Hillary Clinton revived America's reputation in world, best describes the Hillary Clinton that I have come to know. Clinton as Secretary of State logged nearly a million miles in visiting 112 nations. In Kounalakis own words:
“Wherever she went, Clinton was met as a peer by the world’s most powerful leaders. But she also got out of the capitols and inside the countryside. Along the way she regularly met with small business owners, community activists, students, home makers, and other regular citizens. Diplomatically, and without bluster or bullying, without stealing headlines or focusing on her own legacy, Hillary Clinton rebuilt the network of American relationships around the globe. This is certainly her most important legacy and fundamental to the future of American leadership in the world.”
This is the stuff that "no glamor" wonks do. I do not need a headline grabbing entertainer as president. I just need our president to do her homework day after day in the quiet of the evening in order to make well thought out rational decisions the next day and every day.
This thread is about Trump so I am a bit off topic. However, one can draw the contrast between the studious Clinton and the inattentive Trump. Trump cannot answer questions because he hasn't done his homework. He is an authoritarian bullshit artist and the media seems to thrive on bullshit.
