She had a commanding 8 point lead in National polls which has fallen to below 5 recently and Fox news polls are reporting a lead of only 2 points which is too close for comfort. In the meantime the conservative news media is bringing up her email scandal and Clinton Foundation reducing her favorability ratings. I understand that this is mostly a political ploy by the right but this is lowering her numbers. Clinton Foundation is a charitable organization that is helping save lives but her campaign is not saying this. Why? What is her strategy to counter this kind of press coverage? On the other hand, Trump has numerous scandals in his name hiring undocumented polish workers, Trump University, Trump model management etc. Why isn't her campaign hitting him hard with these issues.

Unfortunately Democrats usually don't fight fire with fire. Of course, in this case we have a well qualified DINO running against a totally unqualified RINO so anything is possible!

American Exceptualism at its finest - we all lose!

The problem is that she is trained as an lawyer; lawyer types always have to keep their "cool" otherwise they are tossed out of court. The problem with Hillary is that she is unable to speak as Warren did; Warren has spunk; Hillary is more used to being the old English tea lady in pantsuits. She tries to raise her voice but does not get it higher than 10% of the volume Trump spews out. I think she should have Elizabeth Warren do the speaking for her.

What a revolting development this is !!! Dutch, she needs Bernie out there. No reason to take a chance on a close race.

It is my cynical observation that the "for profit media" wants to have a close race. The closer the race the more TV ads and the more money they make. Another view is that the viewers themselves need to be entertained, and nothing is more boring than Hillary Clinton explaining in detail everyone of her plans and proposals. Viewers tune out so ratings go down. Donald Trump is an entertainer. Hillary Clinton is a boring wonky politician.

Hillary Clinton, of course, is the most transparent candidate running for office in history. Everything has been laid out...details of all her plans are there to be viewed on her website. Her tax returns are available on the internet for 30 years back, the Clinton Foundation's taxes and donor list, a list of who she has met with, and now all of her e-mails, private and public, are being scrutinized in intimate detail for the slightest hint of conflict of interest. The purity tests being applied to Hillary Clinton are unprecedented in history.

Now the press is complaining that she is inaccessible because she has not held a formal press conference since last December. Yet she's had numerous one-on-one interviews and has answered numerous questions. But instead of asking about her policies and plans, all the media ever asks is questions about her e-mails or the Clinton Foundation...questions that she has answered again and again. Or maybe Benghazi.

The media is not interested in the issues and problems/solutions. All they want is scandals. They want red meat. They want controversy. They want sensational news. They want outrageous stuff that can entertain their audience...just like Donald Trump entertains. They want her to be like Trump, the gift that keeps on giving for their bottom line. The candidates need to entertain and that's why MSNBC just loves to cover Donald Trump.

She needs to run the video of Trump mocking the handicapped reporter constantly. Say something like not for me not ever. She has an obligation to win. She needs to define Trump in the worst way possible and stick with it. The establishment got Hillary now it is a no excuse for them must win.

There is no excuse to be this close this late.

Sure Schmidt why does she not dig up more dirt on Trump, but even then, she does not know on how to present this. The adds she had made are still way too decent and don't sink in any more. Like I said she needs Warren in her campaign and just using her one time with huge success does not work; thus why does she not use her all the time as her spokes woman? Sorry to say; Hillary in her pantsuits and dated hairdo (she is not an Melani) makes no waves or an strong impression to the public and in the media; actually an regular Walmart shopper look, otherwise she would be an lot more in the news as you said. More than 42% vote for Trump; certainly not because he talks as an lawyer, but as an wild boar/pitbull. She's way too much an "sweet tea nanny" who has difficulty in raising her voice. She does not impress with an monotone like promter talk. Even I can raise my voice better.

Thus Schmidt; if you know on how the media works, then you adapt of change to get the attention. Excuses don't help.

I agree with these comments. It should get more aggressive quick. The whole damned picture is an important one and the results are crucial. The for profit media was an interesting phrase. I never considered it in light of the profit factor. Maybe it explains a lot I had not previously considered. I hate that cnn hired Lewendowski (sp?) and I stopped watching them because I thought they were pandering to the Trump idiots. Recently I have been unhappy with the amount of Trump talk that I get on msnbc. Perhaps this all is about making a dollar off of a bad race. This idea makes me wonder if it will be a close race until the end because of the money factor with the media. You can love or hate Hillary but if you put them side by side it's crazy that she's not up by 40 points in the polls. I don't understand the entire picture but I don't like that inteligent citizens can't be making better choices. My hope is that despite the factors that muddy the water..... in November the distractions and crazy game playing will be lifted and she'll win by a comfortable margin. I want her to win but, a 48% / 44% / 6% / 2% (D,R,L,G) win would be a bad thing because the people not in the 48% will whine like babies and cry about the wrong person getting in.

I would rater see a 65% / 30% / 4% / 1% (D,R,L,G) result so we can say shut up and accept the fact that most citizens didn't want your guy. Even then the conspiracy arguments will continue to be discussed over really cheap beer and potato chips.

Yes Tony, indeed the "media" plays games all the time; just watch, the name "Trump" gets 90% of the attention; Hillary may be 5%. While he's not paying to get on TV! Right now the polls have narrowed to 1% difference I'm totally amazed at this. You told be me that this is not an stupid country; think again. Hillary is only on the news about her server; not about her "platform" What is wrong with this picture?

Trump obviously has a charismatic appeal. Obvious and fact. The charismatism has to be fought and attacked.
