I saw advertised today a presidential debate on approx. Sept. 21. I thought why is this ? I honestly don't know why it's being avoided. In my opinion HRC should say I'm available Any time after Aug. 10 If you've got all of these great ideas on making America great, why don't we get together and talk about it ? She should flat dare him to discuss everything on the biggest of stages with a moderator on network television.

I get the impression that neither candidate wants to have debates. HRC may think if I leave the idiot alone he'll probably continue to bury himself. What's being discussed on the news recently are ignorant things. DT wants everyone to think he's big and strong but if he were put in front of tough questions, he couldn't just continue with his second grade childish comments. I'd love 6 debates. Aug 15, Aug 30, Sept. 10, Sept. 23, Oct. 10 and Oct. 21. and of course a cool down period to ready themselves for the election. CNN, Fox, ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox again (though I'd love to see Al Jazeera (sp?) get a chance but with their Mid east origins, R's would never consider them)

I hope the American and the 'murican public will all ask for a stage where the crucial issues can be discussed at length and where we could see the abilities of those (one of which) who will be in charge or at least elected in 3 months.

If we only get 2 or 3 debates it will be a failure of exposing the candidates to this country and the world.

Thoughts ? Opinions ? I'll also take an explanation of why it's not being strongly suggested by all. Thank you

The nonpartisan Commission on Presidential Debates sets the debate schedule without coordinating with either party. There has always been three Presidential debates and one Vice Presidential Debate since they took over the debate format.

Thank you for telling me. I was not aware it was set to those details.

why not an actual debate? the pile of flotsam and jetsam that passes for debates is borderline meaningless. it is theatre.

Lonely; you are right. Especially with these two candidates. I bet no one will get any wiser from it. But yeah, the media can milk out every word what was said and talk forever about it, while the country goes down the tubes in the meantime. Especially if Trump has to do things without an "promter" then nothing sensible will come out his mouth anyway. For Hillary she likely will have to defend her "server" forever; so I don't see much use for it either; except as some more ridiculous entertainment.
