America's Orwellian World did its very best to create enthusiasm for the Republican National Convention while totally ignoring the demonstrations and protests outside the Convention.

The Governor of Ohio and the Mayor of Cleveland and their police and security forces are to be congratulated for their dedicated, intelligent and restrained handling of any potential problems such activities often create.

It is a sad time in our nations history when such a totally unqualified, ignorant, fear mongering, hateful individual has been selected to run for President.

The people voted...and some didn't. Some voted their emotions and some voted their tribes. The bottom line is that whatever candidate the Republicans have nominated, it's because their people were passionate enough to vote. You can't get any more democratic than that.

And if Trump is elected president, it also is because the majority of the voters selected him...not necessarily the same as the majority of Americans. Some Americans won't vote out of apathy, and some in swing states will make protest votes (e.g. Jill Stein).

Since the topic is the power of mass media, I should add that we have lots of choices in the media: television, newspapers, radio, internet. What we choose as a source to get our information from is entirely up to the individual. You cannot blame the media entirely, although I will be the first to admit that much of the news is largely biased and sensationalized for ratings and profit.

I get much of my news from Vox, Huffington Post, Al Jazeera, the Guardian, the Onion, the Daily Show and certain journalists on MSNBC. But I would guess those would be unknown news sources to many conservatives who get their news from Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, Duck Dynasty, the 700 Club and the Christian Broadcasting Network.

But we do have the freedom of choice...just the touch of a button.
