Monday the Democratic convention starts in Philadelphia. Hopefully we can show the other 60% of America that you don't have to be a childish bully to make a different point of view. I'm sure many haters will think it's insane that the Democrats get equal time. Hopefully we can show some dignity and express the hopes of building this country in the right ways to address needs of seniors, workers, military, and persons struggling to get by.

Celebrities scheduled to arrive. Some will protest. Some will support. Looks like support is winning. Now granted, we don't have a Duck Dynasty guy. See below who will lend their opinions.

as I stated in the music thread, people affect people.

So far and as of last night all of the protesters have been peaceful , the City has supplied misting stations and watering areas along the route of the marches, the heat here is incredible 90 degrees plus , and as I write this the temp. is already in the 90's, plus a high humidity factor, and there are no arrests so far, .I was surprised that the DNC had erected a 4 mile wide and 8 foot high fence around the Convention venue, the Wells Fargo Center. As bad as it appears that the DNC chair had to resign ,I hope that will be the only distraction.

I agree. The choices in this election are as clear as they can possibly be.

On one side stands a racist fascist who wants to deport millions of people, shut our borders, and re-Tweets white supremacists on a daily basis. On the other stands someone who has spent her entire career in public service doing the work of the people.

These Bernie supporters are booing him as he says the party should support Hillary. They don't want to listen. They want to throw a fit, run away crying and clutching onto their votes. If that's as mature as they can achieve....... they deserve what they will get. Nader, Perot, there's always someone to disrupt the party. Sane people seem to not be able to do anything about it.

Other: Bloomberg from NY said he'll endorse Hillary. Not all billionaires are stupid.

Trump considering the crazy guy from Fox news for his team ? That's interesting.

There is nothing, and I mean nothing, I would love to see more than having a sexual predator who was forced to resign in disgrace joining Donald Trump's team.

If that doesn't get out the Democratic vote than I have no idea what will.

I saw one of the MSNBC announcers interviewing a Bernie supporter holding a sign, "show the transcripts". She said she plans to vote for Trump. Wow I know the vast majority of Bernie supporters will support Clinton, and some will even actively canvass for her. But there is a strong minded faction within that coalition that just hates her with a passion. They are the polar opposite of the crazies in the Tea Party. Any Democrat who says they plan to vote for Trump is a "crazy" ignorant hater, just like the Tea Party haters.

I fear there are a few of these supposed "Democrats" you talk about who are members of this website.

I switched to CSPAN to listen to Elijah Cummings give his speech because MSNBC cut away. However, the Bernie supporters were shouting in unison "no TPP" while holding up no TPP signs the whole time Cummings was talking. I found their antics disrespectful to both Rep Cummings, but also the black community who wanted to hear their leader speak. Is this what they are going to do with every speaker? As far as I am concerned they are selfish and ignorant. They are not real Democrats.

The sad thing is that they have absolutely no idea who Elijah Cummings is nor do they care. All they know is that he supported Secretary Clinton so he must be the devil reincarnate.

Bernie supporters are starting to make me sick. I used to be a supporter of his candidacy and welcomed his entry into the Democratic primary so Hillary wouldn't only have to debate two former Republicans for the nomination, but this is just getting pretty damn ridiculous now.

Bernie supporters never were Democrats. They are people who never took the time to vote in any election because they convinced themselves that the system was rigged. Then someone who didn't declare he was a Democrat until weeks before the first Democratic debate promised the world to them and they all got on board thinking that every left leaning person would rise up and vote for someone who signed up to be a Democrat for purely political reasons. And now they are pissed that millions of more people said "no, we would rather have Hillary."

I just saw reported on MSNBC that Bernie Sanders texted his supporters to not protest during the speeches. He was probably embarrassed by the immature antics of his supporters during the Elijah Cumming speech. I noticed that they're not causing as much of a ruckus now. Good for Bernie.

Side story..... not worthy of another thread...... slow not for postings, maybe there's a convention going on.

George Will speculates that Trump may be involved with Russians which may be related to his not wanting to release taxes.

I've been watching C-SPAN in the early evenings because MSNBC is more interested in talking amongst themselves giving "informed opinion" than letting us watch the speakers to make up our own minds. Yes, not all of them are that interesting, but yesterday before Bill Clinton's speech we got to see a long line up of people talk about their experiences in life and how Hillary Clinton's programs helped them survive. Indeed some of the speakers had the honor of Hillary personally getting involved on their behalf. These are the stories that unless you are watching C-SPAN you will not know about.

The Democrats hit a home run with Wednesday nights line up of speakers of Panetta, Bloomberg, Biden, Kaine and President Obama. It will be hard to top that on Thursday. President Obama, however, was at his best with another classic.

    Best lines for Wednesday night:

"...anyone who threatens our values, whether fascists or communists or jihadists or homegrown demagogues, will always fail in the end." -- President Obama

“I’m a New Yorker and New Yorkers know a con when we see one.” -- Michael Bloomberg

“Let’s elect a sane, competent person” -- Michael Bloomberg

"On a personal level, as he's serving our nation abroad, I trust Hillary Clinton with our son's life." -- Tim Kaine

“No major party nominee in the history of this nation has ever known less and been less prepared to handle our national security.” -- Joe Biden
