It's official. Senator Tim Kaine will be Hillary Clinton's running mate.

I think this is the best pick she could have made. She did exactly what President Obama did in 2008 and picked someone with years of political experience who could actually take over the job if he had to. It also helps that he is a Senator from a state whose governor can replace him with another Democrat shall Secretary Clinton be elected.

Kaine may not be well known to die hard liberals, but I have a feeling they will begin to change their minds after they get to know him more. Imagine watching him host a town hall with a Spanish speaking only audience where no English words are spoken. (Hint--he is fluent in Spanish)

I can go on and on, but I am quite happy with her pick. She chose someone that she trusts and not someone who isn't a blatantly political choice.

Jared -- I too am very happy with the pick. Senator Tim Kaine is the equivalent of President Obama's "Joe Biden". Her choice is about having a teammate that can help her govern for the next four difficult years, not someone who has to pass every ideological purity test of the progressives to make them feel good. Many of those progressives have never taken the time to understand Hillary Clinton, let alone Tim Kaine. Or what it really takes to govern. It's far easier to hate.

Tim Kaine has been mayor of Richmond, a senator, a governor and a chairman of the DNC. In the Senate he has been an influential member of the Foreign Relations Committee. Tim Kaine is highly qualified to be VP, and he is highly qualified now to be president in the event something bad happens to Hillary with all the crazies coming out of the Republican Convention.

This is a vote of confidence in America.

By picking An extremely popular Senator from a perennial swing state as her running mate?

A lot of die hard liberals said the same thing when Obama picked Biden as his number two. How did that work out for them?

Tim Kaine is a certified Deficit Terrorist. He might be a soft Deficit Terrorist, or a Centrist Deficit Terrorist, but that actually might be worse. Those people give Deficit Terrorist ideas more legitimacy than Republicans can extend. Democrats are far more articulate, and only Democrats can sell spending cuts to the Democratic constituency. If Republicans were alone on their Deficit Terrorist nonsense, they would have been destroyed a long time ago.

So good luck with that! :(

I don't yet know that much about him. It will be interesting to see how he handles himself in the next few months. I hope that he's cool under pressure and I hope he's articulate and debates well. He seems to have a good resume.

Yes P.R. this is about the worst pick she made; the guy studied to become an Jesuit Priest!! Is Pro-life and anti abortion and anti Planned Parenthood. As a matter of fact could be Trumps pick as well!! Also Bill picked this guy for her. That also shows she is not standing on her own feet.

Trump will certainly use all these things against her; what an horrible choice!!!

One saw over at Thom Hartmann that kaine supports less oversight for some banks. That doesn't give me the warm fuzzies.

I notice there have been no replies to who you would have picked and why........

I've just watched a large part of this mans speech. I think he sounds very good. Very good.

He has a 100% rating from Planned Parenthood, a 100% rating from NARAL (the leading pro-choice group), a 100% rating from the Brady Group (the leading gun control group), and a 100% rating from the Human Rights Campaign on every single issue. Oh, and he has a 7% rating from the National Rifle Association...

    Tim Kaine's Ratings and Endorsements

How in the world can you say this guy is anti Planned Parenthood? And he has on more than one occasion said that he is personally against abortion, but still believes in a woman's right to choose and has voted that way every single time. Hence the 100% RATING FROM PLANNED PARENTHOOD!

The problem with far too many people in this country is that they just believe what they "heard somewhere" and accept it as fact without taking one minute to figure out if it's true or not.

The letter, which was also signed by nearly a dozen other Senate Democrats, proposed that community banks and local credit unions not have to adhere to the same exact regulations as mega-banks.

It was pointing out that these banks were not the ones responsible for the financial crisis in the first place and the new regulations would create a burden on the smaller banks which could eventually force them to close.

I just watched Senator Kaine's speech in Miami. He hit it out of the ball park. So much enthusiasm and an outstanding progressive record of public service. I had only known about Tim Kaine from what I had read about him. Seeing him in person delivering one of the best speeches of the campaign so far (better than Hillary's) I now am solidly behind the ticket. Hillary chose very well.

I couldn't help but notice how natural and comfortable they looked on the stage together. Chemistry is far more important than pandering to a specific base of the party.

One thing I can't wait to watch is him going into a Latino neighborhood and giving a stump speech in Spanish. Many people have no clue that he is bilingual and is fluent in Spanish. We see so many politicians trying to pander to Hispanics by learning a phrase or two, but he can host a town hall and not speak a word of English if he didn't want to.

This pick also reinforces my belief that Clinton will tap Warren as Treasury Secretary if she wins the election. I've always thought that Warren would be a far better cabinet official who could actually get some things done and she would be able to accomplish a lot more at Treasury than as Vice President.

And, the last nail in the coffin is DWS giving the opening speech at the convention! Talk about begging the true Progressive/Liberals to vote for anyone but Hillary! What are they thinking???

Kane is nothing more than Hillary lite. He will bring nothing to the ticket and most certainly drive more would be Hillary voters away.

Personally, I wouldn't hesitate to vote for them because the alternative is even more scary but many true Dems and Progressives will just say "Bye, bye".

I hope I'm wrong but I wouldn't count on it.
