I think the real story here is not that someone made a mistake, whether it is Mrs. Trump or one of Mr. Trump's flunkies, but rather the way they are handling the mistake. A simple "we screwed up" with apologies and the story would have been lost by tomorrow. But no, the Trump brand is "we never make a mistake", or "never, never, admit a mistake", and therefore his cronies have to invent all kinds of reasons that deflect accountability. And that's the real story. No responsibility, no accountability...blame it on Hillary.
Now blaming Secretary Clinton...that resonates with the base. Telling them what they want to hear.
Look for them to deny or stonewall until the media loses interest. And if someone brings it up down the line, then "that's old news...we are concentrating on what we are going to do to make America great again, and you guys are piling on my wife."
Or something like that.
But can Trump govern the country that way? Trust?
