New York Magazine is out with an explosive piece today that unequivocally states Roger Ailes is going to be fired from Fox News within days. Chairman Rubert Murdoch and his sons are all in agreement that Ailes has to go and the only question now is whether it will be during the week of the Republican National Convention or afterwards.
Murdoch and his sons apparently came to the conclusion after his team of lawyers conducted their own investigation into the recent allegations made by former Fox News anchor Gretchen Carlson in a sexual harassment lawsuit. What came up in their independent investigation wasn't released, but it must have not been good if Ailes is going to get shown the door.
The only remaining question is whether Ailes will resign or force Murdoch to publicly fire him. I have a feeling he will be doing the former any day now.
Roger Ailes is almost single handily responsible for making Fox "News" what it is today and it is impossible to overstate how big of a deal his firing is. He has led an unrelenting crusade against responsible journalism and has brainwashed millions of Americans into believing anything that comes out of a Fox "News" correspondents mouth.
I'm sure the overall culture at Fox "News" won't be changing anytime soon, but seeing Ailes get the boot is pretty satisfying if you ask me.
