Mrs. Clinton has suggested that it would be a priority in her first 30 days to put an end to Citizens United. She's suggesting an amendment to do so. I think many will agree that it's a good idea.

While she can introduce an amendment, getting one passed is extremely difficult. As per the HP article, "an amendment must be approved by a two-thirds majority in both the House and Senate and then ratified by three-quarters of the states."

I think a quicker route might be to replace Justice Scalia with a justice that thinks like her. And then have several states pass laws going against Citizens United that eventually will be challenged again before the courts.

All of these SCOTUS rulings, Citizens United, and the related challenges were 5-4 votes over a few years. It's time the votes were turned to 4-5. See my blog article from 2014.

Sure Tony an Schmidt; I wished it was as simple as that; however my biggest fear is that the Trump mafia takes over, unless this country wakes up. Signs are not good; he'll even will manage to get the whole GOP on his hand, because they (GOP) does not care about their racist candidate or their stupid policies etc. but their only slogan is to defeat Hillary; they will even use every filthy means to achieve that goal. Like an Ryan who does not agree with the guy, but fully supports him. Hypocrites prevail.

I absolutely agree. It could be a two pronged approach. Clinton replaces Scalia with a more liberal justice and at the same time asks Congress to begin drafting an Amendment to overturn Citizens United. Congress, obviously, won't garner the votes to send the Amendment to the states, but states would be newly emboldened to pass laws overturning it on their own. Then it gets before the Supreme Court with a liberal majority and "poof" bye-bye Citizens United.

This is another thing I go over and over and OVER again with my Bernie or Bust sparring partners. They may not like Hillary, but they will surely like a Clinton Supreme Court Justice more than a Trump one.
