If the news is reporting about a person or thing or event that is generally unpopular there is no limit to the negativity and lies the MSM will pile on to make the news fit the outrage or to make the story fit the public perception. The problem is that if the news does it then that validates the departure from the truth. In a very minor way Bernie was first treated like poison. Subsequent to the beginning all positive news about Bernie was ignored. Even when he had significant numbers he was ignored. Only when he had a history of huge rallies and significant wins was he recognized somewhat fairly. When Hillary was the presumptive nominee Bernie was dropped and then was treated as an anomaly. Now he is treated like a spoilsport. Trump said that along with regular citizens Mexico is pushing undesirables into the USA. The MSM reports Trump characterizing all Mexicans as undesirables. AnOrlando reporter said a hundred people were shot without the murderer having to reload. I listened to Jack Hanna, an ABC expert, explain why the no swimming signage was adequate for protecting the life of the 2 year old victim. I know Disney Owns ABC, but Hanna was repulsive stumbling and fumbling over words trying to explain and prove his point.

Whether they want to or not reporters are obligated to save their companies but when caught in a contradiction they are abandoned as operating alone. Excerpt for Brian what's his name.

The mainstream media represents various businesses whose sole reason for existence is to make a profit. So their programming is largely based on viewer ratings. High viewer ratings get other businesses to insert their commercials into the programming.

America's infatuation with Donald Trump is the reason that MSNBC, for example, covered every Trump event ad infinitum. Neither Hillary nor Bernie got anywhere near the coverage that Trump has gotten and continues to get. Trump coverage gets high ratings because Trump says outrageous things and viewers tune in. He's a master at that.

To be fair, I listened to several of Bernie's speeches on MSNBC...and they were all exactly the same. I could recite his speeches word for word after a while. I lost interest and so did the mainstream media. Every Bernie rally was a carbon copy of other Bernie rallies, with slight adjustments depending on the issues. For example, he got great coverage when he said Hillary Clinton was unqualified to be president. That's the kind of stuff the MSM likes. Be controversial and outrageous...not just boring.

A final point. I doubt that the social media driven young people supporting Bernie spent much time watching MSNBC or CNN. They were more into their social networking bubbles. That's too bad. Bernie's supporters didn't drive viewer ratings up so Bernie didn't get the coverage he would like. That's the way it works. Of course you know that.

In Russia, Putin gets 100 percent coverage. Should we envy Putin?

When you mentioned young people and the news you rang a bell. I know multiple young couples in mid to late 20s that have cable only to access the internet. I don't get too involved talking to them but what I get is MSN doesn't involve what they are interested in. Early on these conversations revealed that if the news doesnt directly address their concerns they either don't or can't see the overall effect.

Yes, indeed that is how it works here; we had an discussion before about "media"; if I compare that with the European news there is an hell of an difference. Here the money and repeat sensation drives it; in Europe just plain news without repeat and hype. As I said many times this country is screwed up; but the "island" mentality prevents it from looking at the rest of the world on how they do things without the "money" driven objective, like here. Sick indeed.

I only have cable to access the internet and I'm just fine with it. I get my news and form my opinions based off of various sources that aren't screaming at each other all day long.

Cable news (if we should even call it that) is nothing more than a profit driven industry that pits "us" versus "them." Fox did a tremendous job forming that mold and other organizations followed suit after they realized how profitable that platform can be.

The internet is a tremendous source to get information. I am a paid subscriber to various publications that publish long form articles that make me critically think. I purposefully read right leaning and conservative journalists and publications in an attempt to understand their points of view. And I use all the information I've absorbed to form my opinions. You can't get that if you only watch 24/7 "news" channels.

Jared; typical; thus you do not read European news? No wonder you think like you do. Often they publish things over there way ahead of what is happening here; because here they have to "screen it" first; freedom of the "press" is an total joke here; it may as well be Russia. Ever seen an "boob" or dead bloody body on the news here? ALL THE NEWS HERE IS "FIXED" AND "PREPARED " TO SUIT THE "BILLIONAIRE OWNERS" Welcome to America.
