Several media sources are speculating and promoting a Trump - Sanders debate on Fox News before the June 7th primaries in several states. Of course it would make for a good viewing audience...high ratings...more profit. But what would the candidates gain from it? Does Sanders think it will raise his stature to be engaging in a presidential style debate with Trump, even though he has little chance of being the Democratic Party nominee?

Would they both engage in anti-establishment, anti-Hillary Clinton sound bites to promote themselves? Maybe they'll actually agree on so many issues, Trump will pick Sanders as his running mate. Not really...just a wild nonsensical thought to go with the idea of a nonsensical Trump - Sanders debate.

If Sanders does this, it's a last desperate move by him to try change people's brains. It won't work.

Schmidt, I think you are right; it does not serve any purpose other than "money" and sensation for Fox news.

Trump's campaign has already poured cold water on the idea after he said he would be willing to do it. They said he was joking when he agreed to debate Sanders.

The latest on this: Trump wants 10 million for it. Wow; this really shows that only "money" counts for him. I guess this country is corrupt enough; he will make us even worse. Unbelievable that any person votes for this total asshole.

Well, he says the $10 million would be donated to charities...like women's heath. Just like he supposedly donated $6 million to the veterans....who are still waiting to receive it.

Trump could be Seriously wealthy but has probably exagerated that as well. If you think about the 6 million which became 4. something million.......what a cheap skate !!!!! If he said "I promised 6 million but numbers didn't match..... therefore, I'm going to round it up to 10 million dollars" That would be the best investment he ever made. Some say that the wealthy are wealthy because they never pay for a damned thing. Apparently the poor trash on the E coast and in the south are sure he'll suddenly be generous to them (stupidity). He would get tens of millions of positive press by getting off of his tightly closed wallet.

The person who will stop DT from his dictatorship is a white man. Mark Zuckerberg (sp?) / facebook zillionaire. Social media will take down the would be evil leader. Mark my words.

Trump is walking away from it; he sees no use or benefit from it. But yeah his big mouth gets only bigger, until he drowns in his own ego trip.

I think The main reason on all sides was to disrespect Hillary. Trump ended up being politically correct by saying he didn't think it was appropriate to debate the number 2 Democratic candidate. No good news about anything for Hillary tho. She needs to turn it around. Schmidt, you were alluding to some high level finesse move by Hillary to nullify Trump. Are you still thinking that way or do you think Hillary needs a big change.

Hillary keeps making herself look worse by refusing to debate Bernie in CA! She shoots herself in the foot at every turn why is she getting such poor advice from her team. Oh, wait, DWS, NO WONDER,

I was really hoping to see a Sanders/Trump debate, but I figured Trump would wuss out. I wonder whether he was more afraid of Bernie Sanders or Meg Kelly?

Yes, indeed DWS is a total "Laundromat" woman disaster; like I said before the top of the DNC has become way too arrogant as well forget who gives them votes. Way too much catering to the "rich" and "super" PAC's as well "super" delegates. As I said many times: Hillary sits on her high horse and kind of sees the world as 30 years ago.

What a Trump - Sanders debate would illustrate is the big divide in ideologies based not on intellect or introspective analysis and dialogue on the issues, but rather on angry emotions as the two will blast each other. Sanders is already calling Trump names...learning from the master I suppose.

There seems to be no room for a centrist in this debate. They are perceived as "evil" by the ideologues on both the left and the right. "NO compromises" seems to be the populist appeal of both extreme sides.

Schmidt, Sanders represents the need to address deteriorating conditions. Hillary represents herself. Big difference between people and process. Incrementalism and lopsided status quo has presented Trump. Doing nothing will make conditions worse. Hillary should defer to Bernie. That would guarantee Bernie the Presidency and a Democratic Congress. A person with position like you have Schmidt could change the world for the better by calling for Hillary to withdraw. Talk about legacy, you would be in history books forever. Think about it Schmidt, you present an unadulterated Democratically titled history. Coming out now and calling for Hillary to withdraw could establish you as the comprehensive vision for the reformed Democratic party. Somebody is going to do it, guaranterd. Pull the trigger!!!
