"Some would call Bob a great guy."
Take the best upright honest generous middle class person and the worst factory moving wage lowering entitlement cutting billionaire and guess who the town would pick to get the key to the city.
I'd venture to say that Bill Gates and the like are doing exactly that by pledging to give their billions away instead of giving them away as an inheritance for their family members. They are promising to do things that our government is unable or unwilling to do and they should be commended for it.
Every single billionaire can give away 100% of their money and there will still be crime and violence in this country. The GDP of America is over $16 Trillion dollars. Pool all of those billionaires money up and you don't even get $1 trillion. And what happens when we take that $1 Trillion away from them and don't have anyone else to turn to once we spend that money?
This is more complicated than blaming rich people for everything that's wrong in the country. Jobs are different now than they were before the technological revolution. One robot can now do tasks that took dozens of humans to do. That pisses a lot of people off, but I hope they know that technology is only going to get more and not less advanced as we move forward.
We can all bitch and moan about it, or we can learn to adapt to this rapidly changing world. I've chosen to take the path of adaptation instead of bitching and moaning.
