William Saletan, Slate: Obama Didn’t Create Trump
Saletan writes about what others (including me) have also written about. Republicans created Trump and now Republicans are blaming Obama for creating Trump. Wow! What else would you expect from a party that is void of any ideas or scruples.
What the Republicans are experiencing with their Trump candidacy (and also that of Cruz and Rubio) is a result of more than seven years of Republican manufactured anger, hate, and fear against President Obama and the federal government in general. It is Mitch McConnell and John Boehner's saying "no" to everything that Obama supported or proposed; to openly call Obama names or tolerate their party members' over the top rhetoric and hate speech; to use the Great Recession and the suffering of the American workers to their political advantage; and to then lie to the American people that the repercussions of their sabotaging of the Obama presidency is "all Obama's fault".
The Republican party created a culture within their party that mimics what Trump is saying with his politically incorrect hate speech and lies. After seven years now those policies have come back to bite them in the butt in the form of Donald Trump capitalizing on the new politics of "anything goes".
The Republican establishment created this "Frankenstein monster" and his sidekicks, Cruz and Rubio. In CIA circles it's called "blowback". But hey true to form, Republicans blame Obama for being haters. They look in the mirror and all they see is the wrinkles and creases of seven years of hate embedded in their own faces. They are confused and afraid by this new "Mad Max" world they created. But their minds don't know how to think critically. Those specific brain neural networks have long died out for lack of use. All the sidekicks can do is repeat anti-Obama platitudes over and over again...like programmed robots. Nothing else can now occupy that white matter in their brains.
