Your eyes aren't deceiving you. There has been 147 school shootings since Adam Lanza shot and killed 20 elementary school children and six educators at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. That means there has been an average of four school shootings per month for the past three years. Let that stat sink in for a second.

The NRA's answer to these endless massacres at our nations schools is to arm every teacher to the teeth, a preposterous position that "The Daily Show" recently disproved with their 'Good Guy With a Gun' special.

My favorite part of the simulation at the end of the segment is when police officers shoot the corespondent (with paintballs) because he was holding a gun. This is the same reason why an armed former Marine at the recent mass shooting in Oregon didn't go after the shooter. How will first responders know who is the "bad guy with a gun" if everyone has theirs out and is randomly shooting at people?

I wonder how many more school shootings we will have to go through before the NRA finally admits that their "arm everyone, everywhere" position doesn't work? This is not the Wild West and we don't need every teacher armed to the teeth in order to keep our children safe.

Neither in "politics" or "common sense" or "reality" about the world and its inhabitants, "beliefs" and what runs "outer space" . Indeed buy some "western gear" , a fat horse and of course a stack of "bibles" to get onto the horse and of course a couple of 30-06 shotguns slung over your shoulder, as well fill up the saddle bags with plenty of ammo. Whatever "god" thing should keep on "blessing" this country. Halejuja.

In the backwoods of most places people have guns to shoot food, but with agriculture and commerce they give it up, except for a few pervs who like killing. What interests me is why Americans are so committed to archaism and reviving an imagined past. My guess is that it is all those cowboy films affecting those with doubts about their masculinity.

No, this country has a huge inferiority complex; they fear their own shadows; behind every tree lurks a weirdo who wants to rape your kid or grab your handbag or credit card; that is why in the southern States they love the cowboy hero's and of course a long dead Jesus who refuses to help them when they shoot up a Planned Parenthood place..

I agree, especially with the reviving an imagined past part. American's don't really understand history, so many of us like to make it up.

We are the only industrialized country in the world that has this problem. If you cross an invisible border into Canada then you can rest assure that you can go to work without fear of getting gunned down by a mad man, but we constantly have to look over our shoulders in this country.

It makes me sad that we can't reign in this out of control gun culture in America. If someone wants a shotgun to go hunt a deer in the woods then have at it, but there is zero reason for anyone to own a hand gun other than killing a human being.
