You can tell a lot about a person by looking at their home. Take a look at Ben Carson inside his home and how he has it decorated. It's an 8 bedroom, 12 bathroom mansion sitting on 48 acres.

Daily Mail: Inside Ben Carson's eccentric Maryland mansion - complete with a shrine to himself, gold leaf columns and a portrait WITH Jesus

    Take a peek. Ha!

Schmidt; yes unbelievable; what a total nut head; especially the portrait with Jesus exactly shows how weird this guy is.

Wake up America this is an absolute "no no" for President. Evangelicals sorry, Jesus won't help him, may be only a psychologist. I suggest to put this 'reference" also on the "forum" page where Carson is addressed.

The truly scary thing about this whack job are the people who call him one of the greatest medical minds of the world today. I just heard that Republican Uncle Tom Ron Christy refers to him this way on NPR!

The guy who repairs my cars is also the greatest mechanic in the world today (when he gets it right the first time) so what? Would he make a great leader of the world?

P.R. neither is this guy a "great medical mind"; like you said how many of his patients died? Also being a parasite related to abortions; so let a two headed baby live so you can experiment on it. Fiorina does not care I guess.

AP Exclusive: Carson profits from ties with convicted felon

Yes, if you are an evangelical you get away with anything at all under cover of "holiness"; I guess he's more "a great mind" in how he can "operate" (read rip-off) to make lots of money

WASHINGTON (AP) — Republican presidential contender Ben Carson has maintained a business relationship with a close friend convicted of defrauding insurance companies and testified on his behalf, even as the candidate has called for such crimes to be punished harshly.

Pittsburgh dentist Alfonso A. Costa pleaded guilty to a felony count of health care fraud after an FBI probe into his oral surgery practice found he had charged for procedures he never performed, according to court records.

Though the crime carries a potential sentence of up to 10 years in federal prison, Costa was able to avoid prison time after Carson helped petition a federal judge for leniency.

That's different from the position Carson took in 2013 as he prepared to launch his presidential campaign, saying those convicted of health care fraud should go to prison for at least a decade and be forced to forfeit "all of one's personal possessions."

At Costa's 2008 sentencing hearing, Carson described the dentist as "one my closest, if not my very closest friend."

"We became friends about a decade ago because we discovered that we were so much alike and shared the same values and principles that govern our lives," Carson told the judge, adding that their families vacationed together and that they were involved in "joint projects."

"Next to my wife of 32 years, there is no one on this planet that I trust more than Al Costa," Carson said.

Costa has served on the board of Carson's charity, the Carson Scholars Fund, and continues to lead the charity's fundraising efforts in the Pittsburgh area to provide $1,000 college scholarships to children in need.

Before his criminal conviction and the revocation of his license to practice dentistry, Costa built a multimillion-dollar fortune through commercial real estate. Investments Carson and his wife made through Costa earn the couple between $200,000 and $2 million a year, according to financial records that Carson was required to file when he declared his candidacy.

Costa also continues to promote his involvement with Carson's charity as part of his real estate business, prominently featuring the logo of the Carson Scholars Fund on the company's website. His son has worked with Carson's presidential campaign and a political committee founded by the retired neurosurgeon.

Doug Watts, the campaign's spokesman, said Wednesday he was unable to immediately respond to specific questions about land deals involving Carson and Costa. The AP contacted Watts on Tuesday and again Wednesday.

"I will confirm they are best friends and that they do hold business investments together," Watts said.

Costa did not respond to messages seeking comment.

The breadth of the two men's business ties has not been previously reported, partly because details can be obscured in property and incorporation records. Costa's company and its affiliates own properties in at least five states and overseas.

In 2007, a few months before Costa was charged, records show that a pair of corporations was established in Pennsylvania called BenCan LLC, and INBS LLC. Carson and his wife are listed as the sole members of the companies. Though the Carsons live outside Baltimore, the mailing address on the incorporation forms was Costa's home address in Pittsburgh.

BenCan and INBS then paid more than $3 million to purchase an office building in suburban Pittsburgh. The mailing address for the corporations listed on the deed matches the office of Costa's real estate firm, Costa Land Co.

That September, federal prosecutors charged Costa, accusing him of fraud committed over a nearly five-year period, according to court records. Investigators determined that Costa's dental practice charged more than 50 patients for procedures that had not been performed, resulting in a loss of more than $40,000 to insurance companies.

After Costa pleaded guilty, 40 of his family members, friends and dental patients wrote letters to the judge as character witnesses. Carson was one of three people who also testified at Costa's 2008 sentencing hearing, stressing his friend's charitable works and vouching for his personal integrity. Also testifying on Costa's behalf was Jerome Bettis, a beloved former Pittsburgh Stealers running back who had helped bring home a Super Bowl trophy to the city two years earlier.

The government urged the judge to make an example of Costa.

"Reduction of a sentence based on good works by a wealthy person can create the appearance that a defendant's financial resources and prominent connections can skew the justice system in ways not available to persons of lesser means," a prosecutor told the judge.

In the end, Costa got no prison time. He was sentenced to one year of house arrest and 100 hours of community service, and ordered to pay more than $294,000 in fines and restitution. Costa later got 12 months shaved off his three-year probation.

Though Costa was assigned to serve his sentence in his 8,300-square-foot mansion in nearby Fox Chapel, his lawyers repeatedly returned to court to seek permission for him to travel. A few months after starting his sentence, Costa asked to travel to the White House as one of 10 invited guests at a June 2008 ceremony where President George W. Bush presented Carson with the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

The judge denied that request, though Costa was later allowed to take a month-long trip to the Italian coast while on probation to handle what his lawyer described as urgent business at a resort he owns.

Carson's appeal for leniency toward Costa contradicts the draconian criminal penalties he called for in his 2013 political treatise, "America the Beautiful." In his book, Carson wrote that anyone found guilty of health care fraud should face what he called the "Saudi Arabian Solution."

"Why don't people steal very often in Saudi Arabia?" Carson asked. "Obviously because the punishment is the amputation of one or more fingers. I would not advocate chopping off people's limbs, but there would be some very stiff penalties for this kind of fraud, such as loss of one's medical license for life, no less than 10 years in prison, and loss of all of one's personal possessions."

Despite the tough-on-crime message, Carson and his wife kept their investment with Costa in the years since his conviction. Tax bills for the Pittsburgh office building owned by the couple are mailed to Costa Land Co. A recent lease for a portion of the property was signed on the Carsons' behalf by the president of Costa's company.

A day cannot go by without more revelations about Carson's associates. If you think his association with Costa is a concern, his military advisor, Robert F. Dees, will make your hair stand on end.

Foreign Policy: Who Is the Man Behind Ben Carson’s Foreign Policy?

Other websites have borrowed from FP's in-depth journalism, so I want to be careful to credit FP as the source. If you go to the link above you get only one chance to read it before they ask you to subscribe.

His name is Robert F. Dees, Ben Carson's advisor on military and foreign policy. In 2013, he told a gathering at an all-male religious retreat, “My greatest pleasure has been being a private in the Lord’s army.” He also recounted being introduced to Jesus Christ by a math instructor at West Point not long after he enrolled there as a student in 1968. “Then I went off in the military,” he said, “as an ambassador for the Lord Jesus Christ.”

Dees retired from the military as a two-star general in 2003. He then served as executive director of Military Ministry, a division of Campus Crusade for Christ, now called Cru, a Christian evangelical organization with an annual budget of almost half a billion dollars. His Military Ministry was dedicated to converting members of the military to Christian evangelicalism. Under Dees, the organization oriented its mission around “six pillars,” the first of which was: “Evangelize and disciple enlisted U.S. military members throughout their military careers.”

In a 2007 YouTube video, Dees talked about indoctrinating members of the military. “Within Military Ministry, we do a number of things. We’re at our nation’s boot camps; we are at the ROTC detachments called the Valor Program, over 80 universities of our country.… We also pass out spiritual resources, something called Rapid Deployment Kit, 1.5 million since 9/11: bibles, how to know God personally, and a daily bread, in a waterproof bag inside troop cargo pockets. It’s amazing to hear the power of the word of God among these troops in combat.”

“We seek to transform the nations of the world through the militaries of the world,” he said. “And we’re in twenty different countries around the world, recognizing that if you could possibly impact the military, you can possibly impact that whole nation for Jesus Christ and for democracy and for proper morality and values-based institutions.”

There's even more in the FP article, but I think the above captures the essence of Robert F. Dees, the man Ben Carson has turned to provide him with military and foreign policy advice for his campaign for the Republican nomination for the presidency. If elected, I wonder if Carson would make Dees his Secretary of Defense or maybe even Secretary of State. My Carson nightmare is getting worse. I need to wake up. It can't be real.

Schmidt, I'm amazed that only you and me dug a bit up on this subject, but no one else gave comments; what is wrong with this country? Are they afraid of the truth and then chicken out? Why aren't all the info by you and me not posted on CNN?; it is associated press etc. material so readily available. What games are being played? This guy is a real danger to an unbiased society; he wants an total evangelical run country, which is not much different than the ISIS teachings, except we don't chop of heads yet. Who is going to stop this guy? I'm extremely disappointed in the media; if you and I can dig it up they can do that even faster. What a hypocrites.

It's people who think like Carson who are the major terrorists from the Middle East. If it weren't for a strong national government here we would be run over by these religious crackpot/kooks. As it is the fundi xtians already want to impose Jesus law on everyone.

I'm really getting fed up with people who refuse to react as Schmidt says related to all this shocking "reality" except P.R. What is the matter with people?; are you afraid to give an honest opinion? Chicken cowards who hate to see the truth about fanatic evangelicals; that is what I call these people, who refuse to think or have only an indoctrinated opinion.

I'm going to say a whole lot of Hail Mary's for them! Maybe she can help make them understand! If not, next time I have a beer with Beelzebub I'll have have a hell of a talk with him - maybe he can help?

Or, maybe Jebesus will have a savior to Doc talk with' Benny C. Next time he looks at his portrait hanging on the wall of the home that mammon built!

Afraid to give an honest opinion? Not hardly. Religion, which man as a species appears hard wired to create, is a divisive force by nature. It must be. If you do not believe or believe correctly you are heretic or dangerous atheist. This is not acceptable to rigid fundamentalist believers. Their purpose is nothing short of cleansing. ALL fundamentalists seek power, political power, to enforce and enshrine their belief structure. From man using religion as a means of establishing tribal community the natural evolution is to stand over other men, nothing more and nothing less. Tribalism, which religion is part and parcel of, leads inexorably to violence and oppression.

Hello to all you honorable men on this forum, who fearlessly expose some of the most horrifying secrets going on in the GOP which has found new depths to sink to. The MOST HONORABLE people in the GOP are so deep into crime and fraud, they should have their own prison devoted to them. But they always "get a pass" to go overseas & work on all their international crimes, to "hide the evidence" before US prosecutors can uncover it. NOW we know why Dr. Ben ALWAYS did his surgeries on baby's heads, in OTHER countries. They were hiding the "assets" & probably committing multiple other "frauds" -- where there were no US investigators handy. WHY did he always need a "cast of hundreds" to go with him on these international jobs on babies heads? (Honestly, near 100 people went with him). Heck, Obama runs the entire US government with less people than that. Ben Carson's "best friend" is a crook who defrauded the US government? Who ripped off We the People by robbing "Medicare"? But the entire GOP want to TAKE AWAY our Medicare? (Our legal rights as senior citizens)? It is just typical of the sick "criminal" mindset of most Republicans, who seem to LIVE to defraud anyplace they can, like the whole continent of America exists only to be their own personal "gambling casino" -- where they are supposed to rip off Wall Street, and rip off our TAX system, & defraud any govt institutions they can get their hands on. Many of their corporations are only thinly veiled "parlors of prostitution," where the secretaries have to "put out" or get fired. The men have to use any means to increase business, too, -- often by wining & dining their out-of-town "clients," which may include providing bed partners for the filthy scum. Somehow, I used to think this was "unusual" --- but now I know it is "common practice" by the GOP scum who operate most of our Big Business. Now I know why this country has been down-graded from the finest on earth, to the one hanging by a thread, with our water polluted, our highways falling apart, our people starving, or else worried about the decline in our standards of living. I could easily spend a week or 2, describing all the GOP scum I had to work for, & all the various ways they "exemplify" the absence of morality & integrity, and also typify hard-nosed stubborn Nazi mentality.

And typical of GOP personality, while doing various filthy corrupt deeds, & treating their employees like dirt, and all the highest bosses got paid to "Go Play Golf" at least one day a week "for their health." Fairly often all our employees had to sit through a Prayer Breakfast. (Enough to curdle your wheaties, I assure you). And while all these fat old "hypocrites" were saying dignifying phrases about their company's assets, & praising themselves for a job well done, -- We the secretaries and office workers who actually DID the work, were treated like "coolies". (Look it up). My boss had dis-owned his own son for going to Canada to avoid getting killed in the Viet Nam War. (It was a Draft, you had no choice). Anybody with half a brain would have gone to Canada, rather than come home in a wheelchair or a body bag). But this pompous windbag actually acted like his precious son was "garbage" because he did not want to die in an illegal stupid war. Meanwhile the OTHER BOSS had his drug-addicted son who had been incarcerated for a few "crimes" -- was being paraded around the office, like the Prince in line to the Throne. Treated like Royalty. (In those days, you really had to keep your "barf bag" handy, at all times).

(And mind you, this was a Govt Agency). The most pompous windbags, who could not spell or add, were typical in the Govt offices, and ALL of them just happened to be GOP. (Lucky me). So sitting in a large room, all of us encircled around a big huge round table, we had to clasp our hands in prayer, with unspeakably ignorant tyrants, giving something resembling sincerity in prayer. (However, as typical of GOP leaders, they NEVER PRAY for PEACE, even in the midst of VietNam. --- (The stock market always "goes up" in times of War, you see, so GOP will ALWAYS PREFER WAR to PEACE, anyday).

So anyway, back to BEN CARSON. He almost had us fooled. He comes off as such a "nice guy" and "so Christian" --- and it is hard to find fault with anybody with all those credentials. What could bring tears of joy to the eyes of right-wing Christians better than "saving babies"? OMIGOD. That is equivalent to the second-coming of Jesus, himself. (Its a Miracle).

However, we are supposed to ELECT HIM, (not for baby savior, -- or evangelist preacher), but for PRESIDENT of the United States. This is a very lofty ideal, requiring some "serious credentials" in Law, International Diplomacy, & knowledge about Political Science, REAL Science, History, American Government, & to know the LIMITS a President cannot go beyond.

Now, we all know, that with "Citizens United" the GOP think they are entitled to "crown" whomever they please, to live in OUR White House, & become DICTATOR over our 340 million people. -- BUT GUESS WHAT? It ain't gonna happen.

Just remember WE outnumber them 99 to 1. (That is why they are ONLY the 1%). We outnumber them 99 to 1. And there is strength in numbers, & POWER in numbers. And Voting Strength in Election Numbers. WHATEVER IT TAKES.

In recent years, when Jeb was in charge of Florida elections, HIS Brother "Georgie" W. Bush, --- WON TWICE to be the President of the United States. (I use the term "won" loosely, here, since Jeb Bush actually "rigged" the election of 2000) And it should have been Al Gore (the Global Warming Advocate, & gentle "hero" for understanding climate change). He was set aside, (deliberately by fraud) -- and his life ruined --- to put Geo Jr. Bush in charge, where he was totally unqualified. As a result we have had the entire Middle East fired up for TWELVE YEARS, & the development of ISIS, (trained by the CIA under Daddy Bush) -- previously known as Al Quaeda. Countless thousands of our troops wounded or dead, costing the US taxpayers $billion$ -- all due to a little Vote Rigging ---- done by JEB BUSH. (And he never spent a day in jail, for it).

There was a TV program recently (or movie) called "The Endless Election" which was about the Bush election to put his brother Georgie in office. Jeb was Governor of Florida, & had some control of the ballot count, which for some reason, they could never count the ballots and get an accurate number. (like I always say, they are bad at math and spelling). And so for the first time in history, the election had to go to the Supreme Court. (which conveniently, Daddy Bush had just appointed a couple of new judges a couple of years earlier) so they would "prefer" to see Daddy Bush's SON win the election. And thus the election of 2000 was "rigged" in favor of Georgie "W" Bush, of course. Which was bad enough, but it ruined Al Gore's life, and hampered our US ability to "stop" global warming, while we still had a chance. Things have progressed so far & so fast, that we may be into the "death spiral" of increasing heat waves, & wildfires, & droughts, & rising oceans. It may be too late.

But look on the bright side --- We have an entire Election Cycle to suffer through yet.... (ha) I always like to take a whole lotta popcorn to these events. I take my own home-popped popcorn. It's cheaper and you don't get someone else's pawprints on it. Plus you can share with "interesting" people you meet there. Some good candidates, & a few members of the media.

When you have the world burning up, & wasting away our croplands, while the oceans fill with dead animals & fish, people will be too weak and poor to fight. While everybody is starving & gasping for air, you can always set up shop with a popcorn stand. If you were a Republican, you could probably charge $100 for 25 oz. of popcorn. But ME? I would probably be a real dummy and give it away for FREE. Yep. ---- But afterward, when they are all real thirsty --- Water would be $25 an oz : ) And for an extra $20, I might even throw in an ice-cube. (Where did I learn all this?) Bush Family School of Finance.

No EF. you are wrong; this Ben guy is a friend of this long dead Jesus and had his portrait with his "holy" arm around his neck (gay?) drawn by some angels on Mars; His 48 acre estate is large enough for Jesus to land with his Lockheed built spaceship; he marked the landing place already with a big golden cross so you can see it from space. Further more there was a two headed baby born in Bangla Desh recently, so another well deserved job for him; however they don't pay much there about 60 cents an hour; so he better rip of some charity organization to get his money.
