International Business Times: Is The World Going To End In September? Mormon Apocalypse 2015 Prediction Has People Stocking Up On Food

"Sales of freeze-dried food, flashlights, blankets and tents have soared in Utah in recent weeks as some Mormons have begun to prepare for the end of the world. The so-called preppers believe the world is ending this month based on biblical prophecies, the Hebrew calendar, an unstable economy, world politics and astronomical occurrences, the Salt Lake Tribune reported Sunday.

“There is a sense of urgency, like something is up. A lot of people are mentioning things about September, like a financial collapse," said customer service representative Ricardo Aranda at American Fork’s Thrive Life, which sells mostly freeze-dried food.

"The Mormon apocalypse believers claim the Jewish High Holy Days that began this week will trigger a financial crisis based on the United States’ “wickedness.” They predict the full moon Sept. 28 is the next sign the world is ending."

Schmidt, WOW lets have a party before that date!! You bring the booze . I just wonder if that is the case then all these religious freaks will be lined up before the gates of "heaven" so then it will look like the refugees in Europe, so the "god" thing better hires in more angels to do crowd control as well heavenly tents to give them cover for heavenly radiation. Huckabee will guide them via his spaceship to heaven; he's got his GPS already programmed.

By the way J.C. the book on Genesis is worse than a Harry Potter book why? Go ahead and talk to snakes; then when (Adam was dropped here? out of the sky?) you've got apple trees already with apples on it, grown on lava?.Then someone ( who?) takes a rib from Adam ( that must have hurt, without hospitals or morphine) and "creates" a woman. Then afterwards they get two sons; one gets murdered. thus the other one must have screwed his mother, otherwise the species would become extinct. Who ever wrote all this nonsense must have also invented "drugs". Anyway your whole "bible" is written by " people" who you never met or could interview; so what is true and what is pure fantasy?

I appreciate the logic of evolution explaining a specific look at how life evolves. But I cannot except the evolutionist defense of predependent conditions. They would be better off leaving the beginning and dependent development a mystery.

    JC,

Not cherry picking, just repeating the "book of insanity"

Remember......the simple things. Created man on the 6TH and then rested....... created "HIS" creatures independently from one another....Why not make evrerything on DAY 4.....and then hit the strip club and the dope house?????

all of it is a joke...not just some parts

Stop believing in magic and fairy tales it only makes you look, well you know, I don't have to spell it out for you. Or do I ?

L.A. was not being as you say "snarky", he had a legitimate question about Lutheran beliefs to which I answered as best as I could., unless of course you thought the L.A. was being rhetorical.

Chet, Predependent? What do you mean? If it is that conditions have to be right to sustain life, then of course that makes sense. I doubt if anything will "live" on the Moon on its own, because no oxygen or water. Thus life on earth only could have started if the conditions as well the right cells came together at the right time and place. If you look at the oceans and see all its life from plankton, fauna to whales and everything in between then certainly no one from outerspace would have been involved and create such in 7 days. Ridiculous. We still do find creatures who we have never seen before.

Maybe they will all just move to Mississippi, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Alabama or Texas and leave us all alone as they die together in their promised land?!

Look at teeth for an example of a predependent condition. The gap between adjoining teeth is exactly what it is needed to be so that food eaten by humans will not get stuck or compacted. That size of that gap had to be predetermined based on the types and consistency of foods to be eaten. There is a term for the condition and a term refuting the impossibility of a condition. Much the same with animals that have defense systems for predators .

Don't forget natural selection! Those with no spaces between their teeth died out first. Obviously, Southern Christians are "blessed" with large gaps between their teeth and that has caused them to "fruit and multiple" at everyone else's expense!

Perhaps God really does favor them more?

The alligators have big spaces between their teeth; and don't need dentist. Movie stars have beautiful closely spaced whitened teeth but act as alligators, so what is the message? God has not any teeth, he has no time to eat, because "he" has to manage this huge universe, the Pope and Huckabee/Cruz; as well heavenly food is invisible just like "he" is ( or is "it" an it?)

The only problem with natural selection is that it requires on species to remain unchanged while another evolves to take advantage of it. Seems like the menu species would evolve an aversion to becoming lunch. My own personal theory is simpler and easier to accept. First I do not believe that random exists. Basing on that I say that everything that happens is in reaction to preceding events. A different take on natural selection but it does not presuppose that some species remain unchanged while others evolve around it. Evolution highlights the successful cases while dismissing the losing or extinct cases. I don't pick favorites I just say that is how it is going to happen. It is natural to explain and I don't know is unacceptable. As I evolved through life I learned there is more that I don't know compared to when I was younger and knew it all.

Chet, I was just kidding about the teeth. However I'll stay on that track. On this mail of yours, I can only say that the word "evolve" does not apply to southern Baptists etc. let alone a big portion of the world who still live in 1600 or so. Oh yes, then we have the "buggy" people in Pennsylvania, the Mormons in Utah and some other groups there who live and still dress like in 1800. If I see the clowns on stage of the GOP then they have not "evolved" either

Makes you wonder how there can be so much disorder and misorder. Some people seeming to do everything possible to create havoc and misery. I have been on picket lines and protests where we came in contact with owners. They totally despise and disregard workers. Like Trump making America great again while keeping the minimum wage low. He has no use or feelings for the poor. His only mention of the low income is to use their poverty earnings to lure jobs back into the USA. And I absolutely guarantee that he has supporters from the minimum wage group. People that will never see a Citation or S76 let alone ride in one. But maybe Bernie can explain it to them.

Last off topic. I'll pay attention.

Archaic tribal myths, surely, have nothing to do with Christianity, which is covered in the New Testament minus the 'ravings of a drug addict' (Shaw) in Revelations.

I think the "validation" part of it comes from the need to provide a plethora of evidence, more of which will come over time, that we are descendants of an ape-like ancestor. This notion makes Christians very uneasy because it undermines the idea that god created man "in his image" and as a human being, not that god created life and let it evolve. Clearly as a creationist you could never support the latter.
