Bravo once again. I thought it was quite interesting that "lady liberty" was stepping forward as she broke the chains that bound her. What do the women of today think it took to obtain the right to vote? We have now been given the chance to vote for and elect the first woman President of this country. As you so eloquently pointed out her foreign credentials can not be matched by anyone in this race right or left. This opportunity will not happen in the near future again. If we can elect her we will open up the path for all women to aspire to office and we will finally be equally considered for all offices. With the relentless attack coming from the right toward the rights of women to control their own bodies and be considered their equals women just have to open their eyes. If they choose not too the battles we fought in the sixties will be renewed once again. The first "Happy Hour" debate gives us a preview. Their attacks will be against Hillary and against all women. We must prepare for the unabashed relentless campaign that is going to be waged not put it off for the "perfect candidate". I know reality sucks but sometimes you have to bite the bullet and move now. Don't you know that all the propaganda and other Democratic candidates are being played up by media in the hopes someone or something will stick? We must keep our eyes and ears open to the deception from here on. We have a great candidate who can take women to the next level. Let's not squander the opportunity. If not NOW...WHEN ??

You must be reading something into her comments. Preconceived ideas from Bob Dylan? I thought she spoke most eloquently on voter;s rights. Did I miss something?

When our fellow Dems resort to comparing Hillary to Hitler I draw the line. Let's keep this discussion a logical discussion and not go into a rant because we don't agree what you said. If you can't abide by that stay out of the conversation. I am sorry I am 69 years young, a democrat all my life and I refuse to do gutter politics.

No one compared Hillary to Hitler, so you don't have to worry about any lines being drawn. I encourage you to read what the member actually wrote and not only focus on the word "Hitler" that was in their posting.

And I'm sorry, but we get the point. We know that you want Hillary to win, but do you really have to keep signing off with the same sentence every single time? It's difficult for people to have a genuine discussion when someone is signing off with some tag line on every single thread. It's just kind of goofy...

Definitely, the glass ceiling is exposed here and looking back at the responses (8-6-2015), does make reference to Hitler and asking the reader do we want Hillary to be another Eva Braun. I can see some responses in this thread so perfectly explaining the male demeanor of silencing the lambs (or women). There is this so cautious and delicate response answer "Be Careful", your words and actions are being tested by "Our Rules" and if they feel a post has tripped over the fine line of bad journalism than ..............your canned. Women just need to stay strong and make their voice heard.

Just like women throughout the ages, woman have to fight and scrap for every thing in this world much more than men do. Just when you feel your getting your point across and some of us have heard the Woman's Call, there is always someone wanting to trip you and make you fall. Well, girl.......just get up and start anew..............'If not NOW.........WHEN?" You've shown your my senior by three years, so maybe I've got more to learn from those that have been in this world longer than me. It's just this younger generation that don't get it, but they will someday. An old saying that's often true, "What goes around, comes around". The younger generation will get old one day and they will see the light.....................we all do.

Well the first debate has just about concluded. I would sure like to hear what some of you have to say. I almost felt FOX had an agenda and quite notably tried to set their sights on particular candidates while soft peddling to others. They tried unsuccessfully to get them to attack Hillary but they brought up Obama more. I thought that was interesting. I do not think Trump did as well as he thought he would.I think Kasich will go up in the polls and possibly Rubio. No one else seemed to shine on the right. Bush was very defensive. There is also an interesting topic I would like to talk about. I know why I am Democrat and I know who still has my vote. I just wondered what you were thinking. I still believe

Watching John Stewart's "LAST SHOW", which is dedicated to tonight's debate is awesome. I wish John would stay on Comedy Hour, but he has a new ambition and energy to share. Couldn't be sweeter for Stewart to do his last show on the Republican debate. This is a barrel of monkeys, keystone cops, and a circus of clowns Republican debate. Trump did not let anybody down, especially his response to Megan Kelly. To watch all those Republicans attack one another was "Priceless".

This is why we need a "woman" in the White House in Charge. This is why we need Hillary!

If not NOW........WHEN? Just luv it!

A wise person would take note of posting style suggestions from a mod. Nothing tends to turn off others more than the constant, silly, repeating of a trite tag line.

Just pointing that out as a 72 year old lifetime Progressive

I guess I have exposed the glass ceiling as you have suggested. Yesterday was my birthday and a couple of the people I am having the conversation with seem to take my thread line offensive. Hmm They even suggested I stop it. They gave me a gift. Could it be they really can't answer the question? Does it mean that they are fearful that if a woman is elected this will open the flood gates for women to be taken seriously in the male dominated political realm? I am here to discuss the political climate. I am from a long line of Democrats, my father being a State Democratic Chair, I was a Democratic Chair, I will not be bullied by or controlled by anyone, good intentions or not. In fact, isn't this what this thread is about? Now, on a much lighter note How many took in the clown car last night? Did we get any incite into the right last night? I posted an immediate response before the networks weighed in and more or less it seemed to be correct. What do you think? My most astonishing thought was "Is this all Jeb Bush has? Maybe Hillary will have to re-think who she is preparing for? Love to hear from all of you. If not NOW....When??

Another thread I would like to take up is Rubio, while trying to be "presidential" he may have shown his hand so to speak. He appeared to be rehearsed almost like as a political insider might have. Could he be the Koch Brothers proxy? Young, able to be manipulated, hungry for fame, power, money or? He had one HUGE mistake at it said it all. In an excited moment on the question of Hillary he blirted out "we do not want this race to be about her resume"

The Republicans are fearful of the "resume" she presents. I can see an AD by Hillary incorporating her credentials with the Rights' fears. Just thinking

If you look at the total picture of this country, as well as a Mr. Schumer who wants to torpedo Obama on the Iran deal, our total mess in the middle east, our trillion dollar expenditure on weapons for WWIII, our police force training, the stock market, ridiculous arguments about planned parenthood, our borders, the election circus etc. etc., then who cares about who will win or scores on things which are words only. In the meantime the whole world hates our guts and laughs at our total incompetence in all area's. Hillary or not, they will all be faced with the present mess all around us; that does not change. Ask Obama how he has lost plenty of battles, fighting idiots even in his own party..

Just as a question; why again a Bush or a Clinton; there must be on a population of 350 million a couple of people who are smarter than those families.

Like I said before we don't need a Trump either or a Walker, Rubio etc. we need a real LEADER who dares to tackle our essential problems; not the same old etc.

Unfortunately in this day and age we must accept reality. With all you listed above increase what O'bama encountered when he took office. He has accomplished much and would have even more but was met with relentless obstructionism. Every year the electorate tries new candidates in the Congress who promise the moon but soon realize they are relegated to their seat in Congress for their vote only. They contend with each other by saying and doing outlandish things to get the media's attention for 15 minutes of fame. We must be wiser in our selection of our representatives, demand that they pay their dues( In other words learn how to pass a Bill) include the entire electorate in their considerations just not small factions who have caught the media's interest and WORK TOGETHER.

I learned much a long time ago when I became involved in the Howard Dean campaign. Some of it giving me insight into the political process. We may want perfect and fair but that train left the station a long time ago. Remember we even gave the highest seat in the land to someone who cheated to get it, used the Supreme Court to secure it, then took the accomplishments of the Clinton administration and proceeded to roll us back to the dark ages. But again we picked up the pieces, Obama cleaned it up and for the first time we have succeeded in having a candidate with a resume that even the right's contenders can't match. It is often said "we don't know what we have till we lose it" Are we willing to roll the dice and presume that a candidate with lesser qualifications will be able to maneuver the minefields of gotcha media, and Citizens United. Show me the candidate, show the credentials and I will weigh them with mine equally but so far that candidate has not been shown. I will still be for Hillary and proud to say so.
