This weekend I had the awesome experience to see "Lady Liberty" She stands in our harbor as a beacon of Peace and Freedom with strength and resiliency
for all who come to these shores. Yet I learned with much dismay that on her dedication, October 1886, NO Women were allowed on the island let alone to attend the dedication. The suffragists and activists were in boats and small craft while our countries' male elite commissioned her in that harbor. We as women were not given the right to vote until 1920 some 34 years later. and now on the dawning of a new era 95 years from when we were given the right to vote we may at last have a female candidate on both sides seeking the highest seat in the land. To watch them confine one to the second tier for debate and relegate the other to propaganda and harsh words of mistrust and hyperbole. Women of America if not for the capable women in this race then for the women in 1886 and 1920 stand up and be counted. If not NOW _WHEN??

I have no clue what the problem is; women here have plenty of freedoms, unless their "beliefs" ( religion) stands in the way. Sure there are certain things which can be improved upon, such as equal pay etc. But if you look at the TV women can say what they want and choose their destiny as they want. The crazy "right" who want to curb abortions again to get control over the women via the church is the problem. The evangelical "right" wants women to adhere to "antique" middle east "obey" only and keep your mouth shut laws.

All I know that over the years we seem to think we do not stand up to our male co-harts or not equal??? Do we teach in our schools about women who took up the cause and gave their entire lives to obtaining these rights? No! We never were taught of Alice Paul who time and time again brought equality up to each state only to be defeated. We will never again have the opportunity to over-come gender inequality until we act as a body of one and demand our rights, if not for us or those who fought before us,for our daughters and granddaughters.

This is an intriguing thread as I have witnessed the journey that women have taken over the past 50 years. Before that I was an avid admirer of my Mother and saw how much love was given to her children and to me. So today, I focus on the differences between man and woman on issues in business, law, engineering, religion and politics. I see women having a keen sense of humanity more so than men. I see that women "THINK" more rationally than most men. I see where women make sacrifices more than most men. It is for the reasons of examining women's responses to critical issues, I strongly believe that the glass ceiling in politics needs to be obliterated. I will vote for Hillary at all costs as I would vote for any Democratic woman as a candidate. I wish there were more women Democrats running to equalize the number of men running. However, a joke comes to mind, "How many women does it take to defeat all the men running for the Presidency?..........Just ONE". America needs more women to take charge, because many men presently in charge are making a mess of our country, it's citizens, and our place in the world. A women is what America needs. A classic charge against women is the anti-abortion issue, which is being dominated by men making decisions on what they no nothing about. Men have run from their obligations of being a father and husband for decades. So, how can men ever make decisions for a woman deciding to give birth or not. A recent report on 2.5 children homeless in America is why that happens? Men comes first to the mind, where they only care about what swings between their legs than the most important responsibility of taking care of their offspring. As a avid supporter of the Boy Scouts, I often speak highly of the women who joined the ranks of leadership and explain to them they have saved the organization, because too many men do not stand up in supporting the children they bring into this world. It is with disgust I see when a women appears to act like a man in her social circles, which I ask "Why, do women degrade themselves by acting like a man?". Women, be proud, hold your fist in the air and roar like a woman in power. YOU GO GIRL!

Bravo!!!!! Why don't you run??? If more women would rally and support each other the rhetoric and negativity would be shouted down. Have you ever asked why are we still fighting for rights we have or thought we had? Have you asked why lies are more accepted than truths? Our voices should shout in unison. This is OUR TIME! Not one minute more will we wait. If not NOW...WHEN??

I have been here all day trying to answer the question I posed. If not NOW...WHEN??? In all scenarios I have come to the same conclusion. We will never shatter that glass ceiling if we don't act NOW. We have in our Candidate. Hillary Clinton, everything we could ever want. She has the knowledge, intellectual ability, experience and knows how to ask and get the monies needed for this election because of the Citizen's United decision by the Supreme Court. Oh I know this is highly distasteful to some in our Party. Really, we would rather her be subjected to the ruthlessness of the other Party? She's not trust worthy because her husband had an affair? What proof have you of anything she has done wrong? We should demand and get any proof before it is accepted by our Main Street Media. We are playing right into the hands and being manipulated by the factions on the right. Why shouldn't this election be about Gender? Haven't we waited long enough? Her election will open the door to all women. I think we need a group If not NOW....WHEN??

I hope you noticed 'The Donald" appearing to take sides in the Planned Parenthood fiasco. The male dominated political drama has "The Donald" appearing as a savior to the unborn or the plague of abortion on women who take this decision lightly. "The Donald" shows off his political influence to win a battle front on abortion rights, but not because he is concerned for the unborn. He's "The Donald", The Trickster" and The Intimidator", for whatever will work to persuade people he is the only candidate worthy of a vote. "The Donald" is doing this not for women in this country, not for all the unworthy fathers in this country, not for the conservative views on abortion, it's because of HIM basing in the political limelight stealing away a women's right to make that decision. As a male and a three time looser in divorce, so called spousal rapist claim, I would believe if one would search the archives of law cases and abusive relationships, you will find "The Donald" paying his way out of trouble. It is with disgust that I imagine there are women following "The Donald" around with support.

Women must stand up and if not NOW_WHEN? Supporting "The Donald" is not now or whenever.

There are many things about the Party on the right but getting them in a gotcha moment doesn't happen often. We must instead get the best candidate. Invoke, her name. her plans for this Country and create a wall between her and the Republican right. Democratic Visibility is a must now and thru the election. Democrats must stand up Now,(just like the teachers Union) drown out the voices of doubt and show our pride at being for all people's rights. Keep saying If not NOW....WHEN?????

Yes, it is about Time, we had equality in this arena. I tried to get involved in just the tiniest bit of political canvasing, making calls, etc --- several years ago, but I found out that in some states, the Democratic Party is actually "taken over" by Republicans. They are DINO's (Democrats in Name Only) --- and they are only there to "sabotage" or weaken the campaign, or to slander our candidates, & to siphon off the money. Repubs have been doing that infiltration for 20 yrs, but not in every place. Just some chosen places. And my city happens to be one of them.

But the Boys have found ways to keep women from succeeding in the area of politics for all this time. --- We just got the Vote in 1920. -- Women (who were called Suffragettes) had to march in the streets, & protest that men had been voting for 144 years, but no women could vote. For the awful act of marching in the streets, with banners, they were arrested, beaten, & while in jail, some were raped, & not given any food or water. (So we think WE got it bad). It took quite a while before we finally were recognized as citizens worthy of voting. So 95 years later, we are still waiting for a Woman to be President. But in the meantime, we have several women in Congress, & TWO running for President. That is SOME Progress !! ---- And I certainly agree -- If not NOW --- WHEN?

I was Democratic Chair in a Red county in California. Until we started showing Democratic Pride, supporting our candidates and getting the people involved we were relegated to the (seen but not heard) side of the room. Once we showed our causes, our numbers increased. Again If not NOW....WHEN ??

At one time I firmly believed that having women run the political economy would result in, well, better results.

    then came these:

    michele bachmann

    sarah palin

    phyllis schafly

    carly fiorina

    to name a few.

do we need more women, and many more at that? Yes, you are damn right we do. But we must not lose sight of the fact that women are just as capable of stupidity as men. Stupidity is gender blind.

Yes, the women you posted left a lot to be desired, to say the least. But to hold the vast majority to the intellect of those five would be unfair. I am only saying, that I hope you would not judge us all with these five Republican women. There have been many who have come and gone who's accomplishments were not fulfilled because of their gender. We keep on electing the other gender and finally find a diamond now and then...How about we give the female gender the same chance. If not NOW....WHEN??

I like a few more women to express their positions for Presidency. Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Elizabeth Warren are two that comes to mind. DWS is very articulate and savvy in politics, where as EW is very vocal and could be compared to a Trump. I realize that it is harsh, but EW is wealthy businesswoman due to her investment strategies. I don't hold that against EW, but she could tone down the rhetoric a little, which could make her more pleasing to the public. I do enjoy her in your face type confrontations, but that is why she comes comparing to "The Donald". DWS may have some issues with the public in that (I believe) she is Jewish, which I have no problem with that belief. It comes from many on the opposition to Israel that would be the issue for DWS.

Both these women if on the future ballot will get my vote, however, the two of them at once, there's some difficulty in deciding. America needs more women to come forward and make themselves be heard in politics. Women can make a difference in changing our countries social attitudes, which are clearly male dominated.

Unfortunately Debbie has been a very ineffective leader. It was a big mistake to put her in charge as well meaning as she may be. We need Liz in the Senate where she can call these Republican (and a few Democrats) out on their lies and nonsense. Neither one of them have the sligest chance of being president.

Hillary, on the other hand, is full of herself and is only better than any of the Republicans in the clown car. The best thing she has going for her will be running against the Republican dopes. Bernie is the best one off all of them but he has no chance as the idiots in this country will immediately say "I ain't votin' fir no Commie, Socialist" so, that leaves Hillary and I will be forced to vote for her also.

I am very interested in the comments of Hillary "full of herself". I have worked with on numerous occasions with the women you spoke of including Hillary. Because she has been strong in opinions and has acquired financial liberty is not a justification. This mistrust and dislike should be analyzed by all who voice it, Why do you feel that way? Connecting her to her husband, gender, or intangible propaganda makes no sense. We must ask for facts not lies before we personally label her as distrustful. I think we will find the propaganda placed out there is purely political and will if we adopt it accomplish it's goal of once again keeping the best choice, a woman, from the highest office in the land. I for one will not take up the banner of propaganda from the right. Until proof otherwise, she has my vote. She is a winner! If not NOW...WHEN??
