Dennis Hastert (former Speaker of the House) was indicted today for breaking the rules. He was seemingly paying off someone in Illinois (Blackmail) where he used to be a teacher. The actual of who and why are yet to be released. Pardon me but the attached link is from Faux news.

Yet one more in a long line of corrupt Illinois politicians. I have to admit I'm a bit surprised about this one because he has been out of the limelight for so many years.

Like I said many times; the corruption already starts at the elections and its money; in this country you are not suited for public office , if you are honest and did not learn how to manipulate/bribe the system.

When will this nation learn that term limits are the answer to easing the corruption that happens when politicians stay around for way too long, and the easiest way to accomplish this is at the ballot box, citizens should hold candidates to their campaign promises or at least have them offer an explanation as to why couldn't fulfill it. "K" street should be banned from existence, what they call lobbying everyone else calls it bribery or at least suborning corruption.

Yes J.C. but that will likely not happen; as long as money is involved in elections then the damage is already done; it creates favoritism and favors have to be fulfilled.

Imagine a dishonest lobbyist. I'm wondering what the money was covering up. What were the bad acts that were worth over 3 million dollars to cover up ? A few more details would be very good. I'm glad another repub. has mud on his face.

SEXUAL MISCONDUCT. Of course. Paid to a former student.
It's like Al Capone. We can get him on taxes. Perfectly legal to pay hush money if you don't lie to the FBI to get out of banking fraud accusations.
Sex / Republican ??????????? I thought it was only Democrats who experienced sexuality. We all know the Tea party and church groups don't want to hear that anyone is having sex except for making children.

I guess there isn't a statute of limitations for his type of crime, that's good, but corruption is not relegated to any one party, unfortunately .

Yes J.C you are right; the only difference is if a simple poor citizen commits anything they immediately get caught and the 'law" is applied. Once in the Washington insider clan, it takes years before something floats to the surface. Corruption in our Government is already baked in, because of our ridiculous election money process which promotes bribery and favoratism..
