    Sadly, progressiveconnie, nations do not have values. They have interests. That their interests can run contrary to what are claimed as values should not be surprising.

    We are for democracy and self-determination. Unless it means someone we fear and/or don't like is put into office in an emerging nation or worse a nation that happens to sit on materials we want and need.

    We do not just get the government we deserve, we get the government that is a poor reflection of those claimed values.

    Well said; I just wonder who is the government? the 1%? the Pentagon? the Koch brothers? The war industry? the churches? etc.?
