The Alabama Supreme Court is openly defying the United States Supreme Court and refusing to comply with their order to allow gay couples to marry in the state. Everyone knows what will eventually happen, but these activist judges, for whatever reason, feel compelled to force their version of hate and bigotry on the rest of the state for as long as they humanly can.

What is it about the southern states? This is pretty much a carbon copy of their decades long fight against racial equality during the civil rights movement. Alabama and other southern states fought tooth and nail against integrating their schools and enacting other civil rights legislation. They were wrong then and they were wrong now. I truly don't understand why so many people feel they can tell other people who they can love. Why in the world do they care other than trying to force everyone else to comply with their dogmatic beliefs? The people who claim they love the Constitution more than anything else sure seem to forget about the First and Fourteenth Amendments quite often.

Everyone knows that Alabama will eventually have to capitulate, but they will fight equal marriage rights for all citizens as hard as they fought racial integration in the 1950's and 60's. Using religion to force state sanctioned discrimination is sickening and these bigots need to be called out for who they are.

For those of you who are so opposed to letting two people who love each other from getting married--Fine. Keep living your hate filled life of passing judgment on others in direct contradiction of what your savior instructed of you. Go to your church, open up your Bible, and talk shit about how all the gays are destroying your life. Talk shit about how the gays are the reason you have been divorced twice and really hope to make this third marriage of yours work. Then go home and pat yourself on the back for being a great Christian. But can you please, for the love of God, stop dictating to everyone else who they can or can't marry?

The south didn't get half the pounding they deserved during reconstruction.

Roy Moore will fight this until the cows come home. There will be lawsuits from now until he loses his license and gets removed from the state Supreme Court.

I agree that the south was given a free pass during reconstruction and that is the reason we had Jim Crow laws until the 24th Amendment was ratified. They had to be dragged kicking and screaming, but they eventually capitulated. I surely hope we don't have to go through that charade all over again.

Moore will fight this until the cows come home, but I have a feeling he is going to capitulate sooner rather than later. I don't foresee the President having to send the National Guard down to Alabama's court houses in order to allow gay people to marry, but the south has done crazier shit before. A few states in the south actually shuttered all public schools instead of having to comply with school integration, so I surely hope they don't decide to stop allowing all people to marry in order to force their hateful beliefs on the rest of the state.
