All sports have had their civil rights barriers and sadly Earl Lloyd, the man who broke the color barrier in the NBA in 1950, has passed. Not only did he break the color barrier but he secured a national championship in 1955 and was inducted into the hall of fame in 2003.
He will be remembered.

Earl Lloyd more than likely was astonished how the sport changed over the years. Today, 76.3% of the NBA players are African -American, and African-Americans are 43% of all NBA coaches.
