In their ceaseless desire to undermine all things Obama, Congressional Republicans have now boxed themselves into a corner and are openly entertaining the idea of letting funding for the Department of Homeland Security go dry. Can you imagine if the roles were reversed and Democrats were threatening to hold up funding for DHS unless they get all of their demands met? Republicans would have a field day in attacking Democrats for playing politics with national defense. Why do they think it's any different when they are the ones playing politics with DHS funding?

I get it. Republicans are mad that President Obama has a heart and wants to keep families from being irreparably separated and instead focus on deporting convicted criminals. The party whose entire platform is based off of claiming America is a Christian nation surely doesn't seem to be acting like it. I'm still trying to find the parts in the Bible where Jesus instructs his followers to break families apart and deport people who don't look like the rest of us.

I genuinely don't understand the Republican Party anymore. They focus only on deporting as many people as possible, keeping anyone who doesn't look like them out of the country, telling women what they can do with their personal bodies, attacking educational institutions, and building pipelines that wouldn't create any permanent American jobs. How in the world can anyone think they are doing what is best for our country?

Jared -- I agree with you. It's a party driven by hate more than love of country. And now that issue of immigration has so consumed them that they cannot get themselves to approve anything that Obama wants. It's all about Obama and to hell with the rest of the country. Right now they are deliberately holding up the nomination of Loretta Lynch for Attorney General, not that they have any issue with her at all, but rather to "punish" Obama for his executive actions. The Republican Party has become more than the party of hate...they are a party of the mentally sick.

It baffles me how much they want to get rid of Attorney General Holder, but continue to hold up Lynch's confirmation for no reason other than spite. It's childish and rather sad.

I just am at a loss of words with their brinkmanship on seemingly routine matters. What do they honestly hope to get out of their theatrics? Do they think the President will back down and just reverse course? That's not going to happen and they know it.
