Well, Hate crimes are alive and well in America. In NC a man has been charged with killing 3 Muslim members of a family. The guy who did it says it was a parking conflict. This is where you take 20 seconds to laugh out loud............. Personally, I don't kill people. If I were to do it..... it would be to save my family, not my favorite parking place. Around here we have a parking system. It involves buying a house with a large enough drive way and parking there. Different people have different opinions on whether this was a hate crime........ Unless it's self defense, I don't see reasons to kill anyone. Now if someone does something disturbing, I could see shooting them in the leg or arm (provided it was a serious event). I would expect this will be in the news over the next 2 - 4 days.

This guy apparently has some serious issues, real serious, but I don't see a hate crime here, other than he was tired about someone constantly taking his parking area or at least in his mind he thought so, whether or not the Hate Crime Statute is applied in this case ,the penalty would remain the same and I believe that N.C. has a Death Penalty sentence. Now if the Media is trying to extrapolate this crime to mean that there will be a ground swell of violence against Muslims in this country is a whole new avenue of discussion, but one act of violence does not indicate that to me.

No I don't know, I wish you stop assuming that I should agree with your train of thought, lets say for the sake of argument that it is a hate crime, the penalty stays the same so what's the point , and it still does not prove that there is a ground swell of anti- Muslim sentiment brewing.here in this country. The burden is on the prosecution to prove that it is a hate crime, and with that burden the DA must prove that certain elements of the crime in question are met and that he can prove beyond a reasonable doubt before a jury or Judge that a hate crime was committed, it's not all that easy, trust me on this.

Sorry J.C. , L.A. is right; did you see the guy? Sorry a typical Duck Dynasty guy without beard; he would even kill me because of my Dutch look. Absolutely not the parking; people do not kill for that I presume.

I'm not talking about any legal standard that has to be met. I don't agree with hate crimes either. But you know why he shot them....This is1+1 type of situation. Trust me, I have a couple friends doing life sentences for hate crimes...To me, it was garden variety murder,,,,although, being black in the Ave's didn't help....at all.
Billy Bob v. Islam . Preconceived notions about his victims. The Parking spot was just a catalyst.....
Again. I don't care about charging decisions made by the state. I don't thnk they'll charge a hate crime.....God's country will get real upset. They'll probably try to keep this as quiet as possible....but you the media....Who knows

Again it's what they can prove, just knowing is not proof enough, from all accounts this guy is not your run of the mill bible-toting, bible spouting red neck who hates all but his own kind, this guy is an atheist, and an uber Liberal to the max, had subscriptions to many of the Liberal mags., and was logged onto many Liberal sites, one of which was the Huffington Post and Rachal Maddow. as I said this guy has some serious issues and it will be hard to prove that this was a hate crime.

It doesn't really matter what websites someone logs on to. If they kill three people execution style then I hope our criminal justice system will look in to that. Just as much as I hope our criminal justice system looks into things when a cop murders an unarmed citizen. I could care less what color the murderer is. I want my government to determine if it was a hate crime.

The government does determine what a hate crime is by spelling out in detail what amounts to a hate crime in the crimes codes.

ABC News Suspect in Shooting of 3 Students Had 13 Guns, Stash of Ammo

"The suspect in the deaths of three Muslim college students in North Carolina had at least a dozen firearms stashed in his home, according to search warrants released Friday as world leaders decried the shootings. Warrants filed in Durham County Superior Court listed an inventory of weapons seized by police from the Chapel Hill condominium of Craig Stephen Hicks, the 46-year-old charged with three counts of first-degree murder. The warrants list four handguns recovered from the home Hicks shared with his wife, in addition to a pistol the suspect had with him when he turned himself in about an hour after the shootings. The warrants also list two shotguns and six rifles, including a military-style AR-15 carbine. Police also recovered numerous loaded magazines and cases of ammunition."

"Eight spent shell-casings were found in the neighboring apartment of Deah Shaddy Barakat, 23, and his wife, Yusor Mohammad Abu-Salha, 21. Also killed was the wife's sister, Razan Mohammad Abu-Salha, 19. Relatives say all were shot in the head. Authorities haven't disclosed exactly how the victims died."

As I have read/heard accounts, Hicks was one pissed off guy because visitors to the students in the adjoining building often used his parking place. It finally reached a point where he was so mad he went over to the adjoining building with his gun and shot the victims multiple times in the head in their apartment. Then he turned himself in. Was his particular focus just these Muslim students? Or did he threaten Christian residents also? We don't know that yet. It's pretty evident that this guy packed a lot of heat and hate, and those two in combination were lethal.

They'll probably make a movie about this guy. "American Inbred". He'll be played by "Jason Alexander" (george costanza). He'll have some type of "twinkie disorder" that caused his ITSD (INBRED TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER to force him to kill his neighbors.

America loves a great hero story.

didn't i hear that he ranted against all religion? of course that will give the religionists fodder for claiming atheists are violent. would he have killed these people if they hadn't been muslim? i don't know and neither does anyone else except the shooter. that being said i would place a small wager that had they not been muslim and looked the part (playing into the stereotype) the shooter may not have acted in the manner he did. of course i could also be wrong.

Kind of a silly analyses; In this country, also in Ft. Myers every night there is a shooting or killing by all kinds of people; religious or non religious.
With this guy it was obvious that his "war" experience and "trauma" and Rambo mentality was directed against Muslims because he fought those in these stupid wars. Thus already an indoctrinated mindset ,that it is OK to kill Muslims ;Bush approved this; others get medals for this instead. Crazy world for sure.
