I just looked on a program on PBS how the German war machine was created; sorry to say simularities are all over the place on how we act in the world right now.
The worst stupidity is bombing Iraq/Syria to rubble what we are doing now; history gives the result. In WWI Germany was defeated and in rubble; people had no food or a roof above their heads; Adolf Hitler promised a better life etc. This same situation we are creating in Iraq/Syria. I just about guarantee a bunch of even more fanatics will rise out of the rubble. When are we going to learn from history??????????????

The best solution would have been that a combination of Arab countries would fight this on the ground; bombing from above is a kind of an excuse also for the arabic countries, as I'm not responsible if the whole area is only rubble after awhile; the innocent civilians not killed will be the next Gestapo Muslims. But the US knows best but never read history books.

The only reason that not the same happened after WWII in Germany is the Marchall plan and assistance to rebuilt Germany etc. I wonder what we will do after ISIS is defeated.

Hello again I couldn't agree more that the optimal scenario would be if the muslim countries took our their own trash for us. I've still got my fingers crossed that the Jordanian pilot's death may ultimately lead to this. It'd be great if we managed to keep the bulk of victimized citizens of Syria/Iraq from blaming us and perhaps radicalizing. But the Saudis got their own issues with the crazy new king and they would be needed for that to happen. As for Kyle, I'm not really big on calling any soldier a hero unless he did something that actually changed the course of history in a positive way, like that Russian Zaeytsev. It's their job. But the opposite end of the spectrum I disagree more with. Unless of course they did despicable and unnecessary things, such as that time I guess about 10 years ago now that some of them humiliated their captives. That's just evil. It's worth noting that we punish soldiers that do that, though. There will never be a time, at least to me, where eradication of millions of innocent people like in your mass extinction idea where that is justifiable. You guys are correct. When ISIS falls another group will rise. And meddling everywhere creates animosity towards us. It's just that the idea of letting people execute scores of boys and bury children alive is very hard to sit back and accept for me. It's unreal that anybody could do such a horrible thing. So if others won't then it doesn't bother me if we send those fuckers to Hell (or so you don't get peeved with me LA, to nothing. Either way is good). I think the film is more about what war does to someone's head than pro-war propaganda but obviously we use propaganda to create a sense of pride in the country, like anywhere else. Hitler was crazy intelligent and mastered it. Makes sense to follow his formula there, as long as it doesn't lead to mass genocide. The ww2 Germans were taken in by the propaganda yes, but Hitler took care to hide the facts about where the Jews went from the public. Surely they would've decried it. Hitler had plenty of insubordination/assassination plots among his most informed Nazi leaders so I'm not sure it's fair to say that people can be convinced that ANYTHING is justifiable. Fear kept a lot of Nazis in line too

Denny suggest you read also the piece from Schmidt about what we did to the "blacks" who we burned alive or hung for no reason as well the mass slaughter of the Indians here. No we are no sweethearts either; waving flags and hanging out the hypocrites is phoney.
