2014 was the hottest year ever recorded. Think about that for a second. Last year was the hottest year humans have ever recorded. Then try to wrap your head around the fact that nine of the warmest years ever recorded have happened since 2000 and the only other one in the top ten happened in 1998. Every other warmest year on record has occurred in the past fourteen years.

What will it take for climate change skeptics to finally admit they are wrong? Will we act once Venice is entirely underwater? Or when Miami is swallowed up? Or will the entire eastern seaboard, including our nations capitol, have to be claimed by the Atlantic Ocean before these idiots have to admit that they were wrong?

I try not to get angry about many things, but this is one thing that drives me up a wall. I'm kind of tired of the religious right hijacking the debate and saying that it's just God's will to make the planet so hot or that these things just happen. I hate to break it to you, but God is a pretty vengeful person if he wants to swallow up half of the world underwater and have the rest of it have to deal with constant forest fires.

I've said it over and over "If their is a heaven and the Christian view of God is accurate I would rather not spend eternity there"

jared, the answer is nothing. they may believe that the planet is warming but refuse to believe humans have any role thus doing anything is pointless. they may believe that god, whatever their definition, won't "let it happen" because god said he wouldn't destroy the earth after the flood. they may believe that the future is for the future to worry about so it doesn't matter what they do now because now isn't a big deal for them. they may see very brutal winters and point at that and say the planet isn't warming thus showing a lack of understanding between weather and climate.

the point is you are dealing with beliefs and no amount of facts will change their minds. perhaps twenty or thirty years from now when crops are not growing due to lack of water or insects that normally die back during the winter are a plague year round they may say "why didn't the government do something about this before it was too late?" but they will not admit that it was they who pushed for the government to do nothing.
