    Hey Guys,

I need your help, I’m doctoral student conducting dissertation research. Can you PLEASE take 2-3 minutes to fill out a very brief survey (see link below) regarding your attitudes toward Muslims?

You can also enter a drawing to win a $100 Amazing gift card!

    Your help is greatly appreciated!

Description of the study: Following the tragic events of 9/11 when Muslim terrorists attacked America, hate crimes against Muslims increased by 1700% (Federal Bureau of Investigation crime statistics, cited in Sheridan and Gillet, 2005). The media reported a substantial amount of discrimination toward individuals who identified with Islam (Byers & Jones, 2007). In addition to Muslims, other minorities and foreigners perceived to be Muslim faced intolerance, distrust, hostility, discrimination and racist violence following the events of 9/11 (Orhun, 2009). The terrorist attacks of 9/11 led to feelings of disdain against Islam and have had enduring consequences for Muslims such as violence, physical and verbal abuse, vandalism of Islamic institutions, institutionalized discrimination, and overt prejudice (Allen, 2010; Hall, 2004; Laird et al., 2007; Sway, 2005).

The phenomenon of contempt and antipathy toward Muslims is known as Islamophobia (Orhun, 2009). Islamophobia is defined as a fear of Islam that perpetuates prejudice and discrimination against Muslims that can, in turn, generate feelings of stigmatization, marginalization and rejection among Muslims (Allen, 2010; Bleich, 2011; Gottschalk & Greenberg, 2008; Orhun, 2009; Runnymede Trust, 1997). Islam has been associated with terrorism and has been regarded as a threatening religion that embraces violence (Allen, 2010). Consequently, Islam has triggered a generalized fear of Muslims among Americans (Ernst, 2013).

Let me know what you think!

I am not Islamophobic ,I just have a fear of being blown up or having my head cut off because I don't believe in Islam, I also have a fear of going to hell if I don't accept Jesus Christ as my Lord Saviour, and I am sure those of the Jewish faith have similar fears , so what's your point.

I guess you are on the wrong address; until now neither the Christian nor the Muslim religion can prove there is a "god"; no one has met that entity, spoke to it, saw it, knows where it resides, has it a brain, is naked? can it read, can it smell? Does it have body? does it smoke weed? did it create all these religions? did it write Korans or Bibles? Does it know how to milk a camel? Why did this thing told the Jews and Muslims that the world was flat? Does that thing "bless" all these religious wars? Both religions sell snake oil.
So do me a favor and come with a thesis to answer all these questions; then I will run like "hell" to Mars ( Got to get some fuel for my homebuilt rocket) and then donate some earthly money to the first rock I see.

If we could prove there is a god then faith wouldn't exist. The very essence of faith is to believe beyond prevailing skepticism.

I do want to chime in and say that I've been communicating with ayghu84 and encouraged the member to post the survey on our forums. I took the time to fill it out and it's actually really interesting. It is not a survey judging if you are religious enough or not. To the contrary, it is a survey meant to gauge how people view Islam and there are no 'right' or 'wrong' answers. I encourage everyone to spend a few minutes and fill it out. It wouldn't be a waste of your time.

Personally--I feel the way we view Muslims in this country is disdainful. So many supposedly religious and righteous people speak of hatred and contempt for anyone who worships a largely peaceful religion. The ignorance so many people show towards Islam is shameful. No white person looks at the Northern Irish and spews out vile hatred and contempt for all white people, but that is what is happening with Islam when people justify their hatred of others by claiming they don't want to be blown up or have their heads chopped off. They don't take the time to think rationally about things and instead use groupthink mentality that labels all Muslims as bad people.

And the tables can easily be turned on Christians, who so often speak negatively of Islam, but refuse to take the time to think about the fact that America has waged an all out war on various predominately Muslim countries for over a decade now. You tell me who is more responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians during the past thirteen years? Islam or the Religious Right?
