Kay Hagan lost the race last night against competitor Thom Tillis. The final results were 49% Tillis with 1,412,865 votes, and 47% Hagan with 1,364,623 votes. She started off the race strong with almost a 6 point lead, then took a quick and significant leap to the losing side towards the end. So what does this mean for North Carolina now? Although I would love to say it will not be as good as Hagan's run, I'm really not sure at all. And considering I am a NC resident myself, after the results my mind changed quickly from , "Tillis will not do anything good for NC atall". To, "Well... I sure hope he does better than Hagan".
After Tillis won the race he promptly Tweeted, "This is not my victory – this is your victory. You've all been an extension of my family and worked so hard. Thank you, North Carolina.".
