The Democratic candidate from South Dakota definitely has my vote.

Rick Weiland found a really clever way to spread his message about campaign finance reform, and actually talking to and listening to the voters in his state. Thought it was worth sharing. Check out these videos he is actually airing on TV in their entirety in South Dakota (cheaper airtime apparently out there), with his take on some popular country songs:

You're absolute right. These are GREAT ads, but they'd cost a fortune in most other states .

You'll also appreciate listening to the original versions of these songs.

Johnny Cash performed a nice version of "I've been everywhere" in 1996 , but the earlier versions were done in Australia (Lucky Starr) and the United States (Hank Snow) in 1962.

The origin of "Big Whee", however, is a bit fuzzier.

Oh yeah. Thanks for the link, guy. Turns out I'm a big Cash (and Old Crow) fan. So, appreciated these parody covers even more. Worth anyone checking out both versions though, for sure.

Weiland has put together a total of 3 videos for his campaign. The 3rd one is a good parody of Roger Miller's "King of the Road", which Weiland retitled "Bring on the Road":

"Big Wheel" apparently is based on a song titled Wagon Wheel, by Old Crow Medicine Man:

at this point, Weiland is in third place in a 3 man race, but the Independent candidate who's 2nd doesn't even live in the state .. since there's only a 7 point spread between first place and 3rd, Weiland still has a good chance of winning:

Nice. That 3rd one is good too. Hope he polls better as we get closer to election day.
