Well the Supreme court has shown that they are cowards who are afraid to face the issues that Repubs don't like. The country is growing up and opening their minds. Maybe that's too much to expect from the Supreme court. Sad day. Well at least things can continue the right way. It would have been nice to make it legal and official.

    scrubp,
Welcome to the site. I appreciate your continued involvement. The Kardashian thing must have struck someone the wrong way. I don't know what it said though.

Thank You. I'll try to be more careful in the future. Apparently censorship is as big on this board as it is redstate.com. Given the fact I have noticed another post has also disappeared, I will just assume that any or all posts will be censored unless I see them posted after a couple of days. I would expect better from my Liberal bretheren, but the evidence speaks for itself. The post was from a Bill Maher video that can be googled if you are so inclined.

The Supreme court has now decided to do nothing at all; Question why are they paid? Anyway the division in this country is typical the "bible" belt and the more mixed reasonable area's. I guess the civil war was fought in vain. Bibles and brains do not mix.

It's actually a little more complicated than that, Dutch.

The Supreme Court decided that they didn't need to intervene at this time because every Federal Court case has been ruled in the same way, which is that gay marriage bans in the states they oversee are unconstitutional. Since all of the courts were in agreement, the Supreme Court doesn't necessarily need to step in and play referee. They actually just gave the green light for gay marriages to go ahead in a handful of more states by doing nothing at all. Thirty states will now have gay marriages and more are undoubtedly to follow.

Thanks; sure you are right; however it seems that Mr.Scott in FL is still fighting it ; so I do not think it is as simple as you say.

He can kick and scream all he wants, but it won't do him any good. The courts are the final arbiter of all political fights. Once the Supreme Court says (or doesn't say) something, that's it.

Governor Scott can make it more difficult for gay marriages to start, but he'll eventually lose the battle. Any gay couple can now sue in Florida and courts are bound to abide by the Supreme Court's rulings. It might take them longer than other states that just immediately accept the ruling, but he'll eventually lose the battle.

Now, it will be more interesting when another appeals court says that gay marriage bans are constitutional. The Supreme Court will then be forced to take the case and rule once and for all. That's when we will find out for sure if it's a fundamental right for every citizen in America. Up and until then, we will have to be happy with what we got and keep working to overturn the rest of the anti-gay laws that are still active in the 20 other states.

I was just watching Meet the Press. They said that the Supreme court will make an official ruling (probably by 07-01-15) on Same sex marriage. If all goes as expected, it should be legal in all 50 states at that time. It was discussed that the evangelical people will remain firmly against this however it was said that most Repub. politicians will probably completely avoid the topic. They are stuck between making a stance to get more votes versus not making a stance to hopefully gain some new people to cross over to their side (Repubs). It will be nice to try bringing the south up to the current year despite their antiquated thoughts.
