CBS News, joining the chorus of the right wing echo chamber, this morning noted that President Obama has played golf EIGHT TIMES while vacationing at Martha's Vineyard. And furthermore, one of those golf outings came right after he made his speech about James Foley. How awful. The right wing media is outraged...how can Obama golf while all this stuff is going on in Ferguson, Ukraine, Gaza, and Iraq?

Meanwhile all the members of the Do Nothing Congress are taking an extended 5 week vacation from the exhaustion of doing nothing and practicing the art of making it sound like they're busy while enjoying fishing and golfing or doing what they do best...nothing...away from the limelight. They don't have to offer any opinions on anything...just watch Obama and be ready to criticize on anything trivial...like Obama playing golf while on vacation.

I wonder how many time John Boehner has golfed...with his lobbyist buddies that own him.

I have no problem with this. This job ages a man like no other job. It's not a vacation if you're working 90% of the time. I agree with the congress comments. As far as the right wing displeasure..... Haters are going to hate.

    From Robert Reich Facebook Post...

"President Obama is taking a lot of heat for golf. After an emotional news briefing in which he said he was “heartbroken” by the brutal murder of American journalist, James Foley, he went to play golf on Martha’s Vineyard, where he is on vacation. Former Vice President Dick Cheney groused that Obama would “rather be on the golf course than he would be dealing with the crisis,” and even some Democrats winced at what they worried looked like callous indifference. Can we get a grip? Sane people need ways to calm down. When I heard about Foley’s beheading, I stopped work and took a walk. We’re so fixated on optics -- on the way presidential behavior “looks” to the public -- that we forget our presidents are human beings. Personally, I’m glad Obama is playing golf. I have no idea how he bears all the heartbreaking news right now, anyway. What do you think?" -- Robert Reich Facebook Post

My sentiments exactly, but he has to also deal with tiny minds...

Yes indeed; it is no longer the "middle ages"; present presidents and staff have all the modern tools to be in direct contact with the "office" so he can "play" all he likes; it makes no difference whatsoever. I guess the GOP are still using "Windows I" as well army field telephones of WWI.

Want to see a Republican's head explode? Inform them that President Obama has logged one third of the amount of vacation days at this point in his Presidency compared to President Bush, specifically 129 to 349. Bush also took more than twice as many official trips than Obama has at this point in his Presidency.

The media perpetuates this nonsense because they love drama. Every logical person, left and right, understands that a President deserves some down time away from the bubble of the White House. It's just that Republicans can't help themselves. As you said, why don't they criticize the Congress for taking over one hundred official vacation days a year? Where's their call for our Congressmen to get off the golf courses and actually work?

Some of the main culprits of this crap about President Obama taking too much vacation are congressmen who work three days a week and take over 200 days off per year. The 113th Congress took off 239 days in 2013 and is on track to take even more this year. We pay these hard working representatives between $174,000 and $223,500 per year, yet they take over two thirds of the year off. I would love to have a job that pays me that kind of money and only have to work one third of the year.

Never mind all that though--let's all yell and scream at President Obama for taking a few days off with his family!
