jaredsxtn Wrote: The turmoil in Iraq has taken another dramatic turn after Fouad Massoumof, the newly minted President of Iraq, named a new Prime Minister. Massoumof named fellow Shiite politician Haider al-Abadi. a relative unknown political figure, to be the next Prime Minister. The move effectively ended the reign of Nouri al-Maliki, who has been the Prime Minister of Iraq since 2006. The United States fully backed the move and the State Department released a statement supporting the move.

Al-Maliki is not going quietly and has called militias loyal to him to fight the move. He has refused to concede power and insists the President acted illegally and unconstitutionally by naming al-Abadi after the deadline of Sunday evening. Iraqi's highest court has issued conflicting rulings on the move, which only exacerbates the crises.

These next few days should be interesting as Iraq tries to form a new government.
Yes, do you think the "fun" will end here? I doubt it. Saddam Hussain was an angel compared to what is in the future of this country. But Mr. Bush has no regrets. Now they all of a sudden The US supports this "new" guy while they have no clue of what he will do; typical, I'm not surprised.

Ah, yes --- I believe our first "operation" invading IRAQ was called "Operation Enduring Freedom." i remember ON THAT DAY, saying that it was more likely (scramble the syllables) Operation "ENDING UR FREEDOM." (by moving the middle of end-UR-ing, etc). I don't think the Iraqi's have had hardly a days Peace ever since then, not to mention no drinking water, or electricity. BUSH sure did them a big favor, didn't he?

Since Bush was AWOL during a full year of his service in the Texas Air National Guard, he should never have been considered to be "leadership" potential, even for the Boy Scouts camping trip to Yosemite. Also, he flunked the flight physical to keep flying planes in the TANG, (some say because he never showed up, due to fear of the blood test for alcohol & drug abuse). Nevertheless, being "rich" in America allows you some small advantages. Such as breaking any Law that happens to come up. With NO consequences. -- Dare I mention 2 "rigged federal elections"?

Yet, somehow this AWOL college student with only a "C" average, was allowed to be our Commander in Chief. Put in charge of our Economy and Budget, & our Armed Services, and even to Wage WAR with other nations. And this was accomplished largely by Lying to Congress, followed by Lying to the United Nations. (A very large breach of ethics, equivalent to far more than a "war crime").

Anyway fast forward 12 or 13 years, $$Billions later, with thousands of our soldiers either dead or crippled, (their lives shattered forever) & our US Budget falling completely apart, our nation traumatized, whole cities falling into disrepair, millions of people jobless, our entire system of govt shattered, --- US politics destroyed beyond recognition by the so-called Koch Bros "TEA PARTY", -- where all Ethics have disappeared. DUE TO A stupid WAR that enriched all the Republican OIL millionaires (ie: Koch, & Bush & Halliburton), & left the REST OF US to pay the price, while they all luxuriate in vast "capitalist" splendor. Swiss Banks are bulging at the seams with US dollars, stolen from you & me, the American people.

For while the GOP all profited enormously by that war, WE THE PEOPLE were left abandoned by the GOP principles that the "little people" do not matter, -- we are only pawns in the game, while the Big Boys pull all the puppet strings. We are to put OUR bodies on the line in Battle, so the RICH guys play golf at luxurious country clubs, go yachting in Cape Cawd, (OMG), imbibing liqueurs of exotic origin, & for lesser wealthy types there is whiskey such as Chivas Regal costing a mere $10,000 a bottle. And of course, Macallan 1926 (fine & rare) @ $10,600 a bottle.

Why is our country, (bankrupted from all of Bush & Cheney's WARS), spending all the "little money left" of our Treasury, putting even MORE into the rotten situation that has bankrupted us? If somebody wants to END the situation in Iraq, either NUKE IT, or go away & let them work it all out on their own? WE GOT THEM INTO THIS MESS, & then decide we have not killed enough soldiers yet, so gotta go FINISH IT?

Eternal, great story. However we are now stuck with it and the culprits are still drinking their Chivas Regal and "Cuban " cigars; I thought this country claims it has "justice" for all. Thus not. But getting back to what I said before, Obama inherited plenty of the Bush area advisors; they still have a say in our foreign policies; especially the Pentagon, CIA, NSA clans have a lot of the same personel; so that keeps the ball rolling. NO we never learn as long as "money" is part of the equasion; either in the elections or the lobby of the war industry and others like the NRA and plenty of industries. The bribery goes on and on. I think that will hound us forever, so the situation as you describe can not be undone; unless you take "money" out of "governing".

I know this is an emotional topic for many on this website. We are still paying for Bush's legacy in Iraq. And we will pay for years to come. However, if one were to put the past history aside for a moment and look at the humanitarian crisis on the ground, that we helped create by Bush's actions, then we do indeed have a moral obligation to help fix it....the Pottery Barn rule.

I support Obama's food and water drops to the some 50,000 Yezidis, half of whom are children. And with that comes some limited air strikes to stop the genocidal advance of the fanatical ISIS crusade to create a radical Muslim caliphate.

So if Obama were to do nothing...walk away...let the genocide proceed, you guys would be okay with that? Would you then call our president weak?

I supported Obama's actions in Libya to protect the civilians of Benghazi when they were being threatened by a murderous regime. And for the same reason I support Obama's actions on the mountain top. It is an humanitarian crisis brought on in large part by our reckless actions under Bush. It will take a long time to fix.

Since we all have the enjoyment of being entertained by the forthcoming NFL season and it brings out the worst in all of us as most all Americans become "armchair quarterbacks", criticizing the skills of a professional that happens to loose a game. We admonish the leader of a team by adding our valued ideas of how the game would have been played better. Americans do the same with our national leaders but with some mentalities handicapped with racial hatred and bigotry toward fellow Americans. "Armchair Quarterbacks" all follow the same character supplying their own ideas on how the world can be better based on their experiences and education. If President Obama was more favored in this country, just how do you think he could have done it? We will get millions of answers to that question, because those of us that fail to be public leaders and sit at home buried in garages, basements and living rooms sitting in our strata lounger watching the game, we get to freely express our freedom to criticize. We don't have any accurate intelligence and rely only on media snipes to educate us. Even Hillary Clinton got sideswiped by relying on her information but did not realize that Obama had already authorized humanitarian aid and protective air attacks on ISIS before she expressed her Obama criticism. She was so wrong on Obama's actions which has made her look foolish for the forthcoming election. I'm all for Hillary to run for the Presidency, but now I question her ability to make sane decisions on our countries problems. She failed and is now attempting to make resolution with the Office of The President.

So for all the "armchair quarterbacks" in America, continue to make your foolishness known with your ability to access our countries problems and make stupid statements regarding how "YOU" would lead America. Oh!......you didn't run for office.......why not? Are you afraid of failure? Do you feel inadequate? It's funny that all those past Obama obstructionist that have failed to take reason with the President's actions have found themselves exactly where Hillary Clinton is currently positioned. The IRS issues, Boehner's attacks, the birth certificate, Affordable Care Act, and many other issues attacking Obama's Presidency and Administration have all failed to produce credible Obama failure. So why do Americans continue to make Obama a "one term president"? Because they are sooooo misinformed. Just too many armchair quarterbacks that sit comfortably and are not active in public office or have some evil agenda to eliminate Obama obstructing his many successes.

AMC -- Yes you hit the nail on the head. Americans are sooo misinformed. Yesterday I spent a chunk of my day registering voters or to talk to anyone who who came by my table outside the Citizens Service Center. One young fellow came up to me and asked what I was registering people for. I replied "to vote". He said, "you mean like the President." I said "not this election". "In this election we're electing a senator and representatives as well as the General Assembly." He looked at me dumb founded. I asked if there are any hot button issues that he cared about? He said "naw", shook his head and walked away. I guess it was too complicated for him...and upon reflection, maybe he shouldn't vote.

In my canvassing for Obama in 2012, I knocked on over 700 doors, and tried to be respectful as I encountered some of the most ignorant, misinformed and biased people in the world...many of them arm chair quarterbacks. But I also encountered some very good intelligent people that engaged me in a conversation.

Anyway, this is one of my favorite quotes that comes to mind when I talk to the populace.

"Most ignorance is vincible ignorance. We don't know because we don't want to know." -- Aldous Huxley

Forget it; no one is going to change the "voters" either armchair or not; as long as it does not touch "them" or their "wallet" or their "church" they will keep voting they way they always did. So I wish AMC luck because this is a real armchair individual; "church" and "army" is the only thing what counts.

Even though I translated "armchair quarterbacking" into politics, I later searched the internet "armchair politician". To my surprise, yes, it is defined and identifies many who claim to do a better job than our elected people in office. Yet, these people refuse to step forward with their "brilliant" ideas and choose public office to make a change for America. These people would rather whine and bicker off someone's misfortunate circumstances, thus being ignorant of any intelligence that an person in office/charge may know, they criticize to make their heads swell with personal gratification.

I realize I am also a armchair politician, but I always try to make a distinction that what do these politicians know that I do not know for them to behave as they do. It's no picnic for anyone in public office, which requires a cool head, getting all the facts, and having the nerves to resist personal feelings and ask for help from many experts. The State Senator from Missouri that said, "F--- Y-- Governor, when speaking to Missouri's Democratic Governor definitely misses the cool head part. The Republicans that continue to obstruct progress in Congress in order to berate Obama definitely miss the personal feelings part and have no intentions of working out the details on any issue. Do I want to be a office holder in politics...........not in my life, but I'll always vote for my "right" choice.

Blessings to those that work behind the scenes getting citizens the opportunity to vote. Thank You for your service to our country. America needs more Obama's and it is change in America that we need to resist the racist climate, unfair labor and greedy people who undermine our society.

The latest: "The Vatican approves military action" (headline on Century Link) Wow; I always thought that they were not "worldly" but had only contact with something "up there" as well only prayed into thin air. This is a real revelation. I think another Pope did do the same thing and approved Hitler's escapades. Personally I think this "human" has no say about anything except preaching nonsense. I doubt statements like this make any difference in this conflict; no "god's at all are involved; only "human" created religions (the one "soccer" team does not like the other one, but both play soccer)
But yeah; it is all "god's" will, including Ebola. Hallejuja!!! So don't worry Mr. Pope!!

So...... I was watching the news..... US air strikes helped Kurdish forces retake the large Dam. I guess that's good news. Then they said that ISIS rebels took a small town. 350 men were killed, over 1000 women and children were taken. It seems that it would be tough to hide 1000 women and children.
Maybe Halliburton has a military service and for a mere Billion or two Billion dollars we could clean up this mess.

I think that all Christians rescued from that mountain should be forced to advise what they are going to do now. In other words, Where are you going to go now ???????????? It's very difficult and very expensive to continually save your ass, so find a friendlier (more law abiding) place to go and contact some churches to see if they will buy you an airline ticket.....If you're in danger, change things.

**** Correction **** The Dam has not yet been retaken, A work in progress....

Tony; don't worry the mess stays a mess; after a while we think we've won with our airstrikes; then it is quiet for a while and all of a sudden Isis pops up all over the place in one form or another and the game starts all over again. The clash of cultures and religion continues as it has done so for centuries. Keep on pumping in money America; but at least our war industry will have good job oppertunities.

In the Dutch news; Isis has sworn to revenge the US air attacks; they will do everything possible to wipe out the USA; that was said. So if you want to keep your head on your shoulders; then either convert as well learn to milk a camel, or if you are poor a goat. So if you guys think Al Quaida was bad; these guys top it for sure. Anyway I predicted such years ago; the harder you fight them like with our drones in Africa, Yemen, Mali, Somalia, Pakistan border, etc. the harder they will fight back. Our government does not seem to get this picture; to eradicate them will be just about impossible, because if we kill also the decent ones, their families will join the bad ones and so on. With "religion" in the picture no one wins. I guess whatever may be up there will shake its "whatever" in total disgust of the human race.
