I watched the various news clips of the protesters in Murrieta, California blocking three Homeland Security bus loads of undocumented children and some parents from being processed at a local Homeland Security detention center. The signs they displayed were ugly with hate. The shout outs from the crowd were hateful. The protesters were waving American flags, but they do not represent America. They got all the publicity and those news clips are being telecast around the world. Really sad because there were also other Murrieta citizens protesting the protesters, but they didn't get near the television coverage.

Later as the the bus loads were transferred to another facility near San Diego, the local residents in that community came out and welcomed them. They had seen the TV coverage of the Murrieta residents, and wanted to tell the world that they do not represent America. Unfortunately, those 50 some ignorant bigots of Murrieta got all the publicity...and that includes their mayor who said he was proud of the protesters.

I know that a story that has a possible negative portrayal and a possible positive portrayal, the negative ones always produce more ratings. I wonder if it is something about our society that makes us want to see the ugliness in things?

I have also noticed that my Republican family members all love to watch stories about terrible things, that way they all have something to complain about as a family. Other members of my family and I, however, prefer stories of things that have made someone’s life better. Most news agencies tend to give us the worst of the worst when it comes to human nature. The worst news agency has to be Fox News, we can all agree on that. Where are the stories of people helping people? Someone who saved another person’s life? You know, a feel good story.

I guess reporters here are kind of naive; they invited a Catholic priest to give his opinion on the huge problem on our borders. The total stupidity is even asking this guy; you know in advance what he will say. 99% of the Latino people crossing the southern borders are Catholic. So no wonder he supports them because that has always been the goal of Catholics is to expand their church; that is why they are so against birthcontrol etc.

Again the Constitution says seperation between church and state; lately also this border is being crossed even by the Supreme Court.

trs -- Are you afraid of immigrants? This country was founded on immigration. Unless you are a native American, all of your ancestors are immigrants. That's a fact.

Immigrants have enriched this country by adding to our wonderful diversity in culture and intellectual thought. Immigrants, past and present, are the strength of our economy and society. Those that oppose immigration have a misguided fear. Instead of opposing immigration, you should embrace it.

And sorry, but you don't seem to be very educated on immigration.

The situation with the children refugees from Latin America are not the result of Obama's policies. They have been years in the making, and Obama is only following the law passed by George Bush. It would be easier if he had some support from Congress, but the Tea Party members of Congress are so consumed by hatred they cannot think critically. They won't take action on anything that might help the President.

"schmidt" absolutely correct; how come we always inflict these wounds to ourselves due to pure dirty politics. I just saw that Obama wants to spent about a billion to help the situation; I'm getting a bit sick of that always here the remedy is "money" ; I guess none of that "money" will help the situation; but some people may profit from it again.

There is a big difference between what happened back then and what's happening now. Big difference! And I pointed out that both the left and right are to blame! My point is that the US has much bigger problems to fix than bow to obammy. Obammy had ample time to pass immigration reform back when the left controlled congress, but yet he didn't! Why is that?

The guy you voted for (Obama) just asked for $3.7B to be used for these law breaking ingrates. Yeah that's right law breaking people who don't care! If they really did care like the millions that stood in line, it would be a different situation.

How can these people help the economy, if the first thing that happens is them costing the US billions?

And how come instead of Obama pushing for immigration reform, he just repeal the policy that Bush conjured up? That is if you really think that's the case (rolls eyes). My guess he needs more votes from the sheep.

For the life of all who desire to immigrate or move from horror to prosperity, America cannot stop the inevitable. Because population is increasing and will continue it's pace, our planet Earth is doomed to becoming over populated. Some are convinced we have already reached over population, even though there are millions of acres on the planet that cry for human habitation. Even in America there is free land and housing for those who wish to join a community and save a township from dying. Even in America there is land for the asking if people would only farm and live for a contractual arrangement for years.

In order to be convincing that America must stop the intruding migration of humanity across our borders, one must ask themselves, "Are we really unable to support these people?". Health care, social security, housing, education, food, water, and environmental issues all are social concerns of American citizens. Thus, Americans are a cheap and selfish breed that do not want to share their bounty with the poor and deprived people coming from South America. Can you blame anybody for wanting more out of life than crime, terror, slavery and drugs that these people are trying to escape from their home country? You have to admit, you would do the same thing if you were in similar situations. You say, "These people are responsible for their demise and should rectify their countries problems.". That's a fine argument, but these people are mostly uneducated and poorly equipped to fight an organized crime element plaguing their country. So, take it for what it is, these are people trying to escape from a dangerous lifestyle and pursuing the blessings of what America can provide. They are willing to take the poor jobs our youth will not perform and work hard to build prosperity in their lives. America is a dream for all of them and we deny them this dream, because we do not know how to share.

For all the religious, you cannot discount what God has ordained all of us to be saving those who suffer. For all those who are not religious, countless social educators count on people to help others in need. For all those that are weak in mind and sick with greed, you will always hold on to what you own, defending your right to keep others from needing help, and advocating selfish and criminal acts to kill women, children and people that only want to live in a free society. Yes, America has a dream. Americans need to share that dream not hide it.

The American inhabitants of Native America could not stop the influx of immigration on their lands. This is an example of how "We Americans", cannot stop the migration of immigration across our borders. Build those walls like China, moats around the castles, and predator drones armed with deadly weapons, America will never be able to stop immigration of people wanting to live in freedom.

There is one possibility that may stop immigration..............remove freedom and place all under terror and dictator rule like North Korea. I'm willing to bet North Korea doesn't have an immigration problem.

"AMC" I guess you look at it way too simplistic. always look first at the "cause" not the "effect" which you then have to fix. The thing you got right is indeed over-population. Thus start with that. How come? Looking at the countries south of our border then you likely will know most of them are Catholic. What does te Catholic church preach? Get as many kids as you can breed!! That is why we have all these "kids" standing in TX!!!
So again I have to disappoint you in stating; Religion is the curse of humanity!! just look at what is happening now.

    1) the "kids" at the border (Catholic generated)
    2) The Iraq unrest (Suni's & Chi-ite's; thus Muslim generated)
    3) The Israeli unrest Jewish-Muslim generated)
    4) Syria ( Muslim factions related)

I guess neither Jesus nor Mohammed are helping out.

Again Dutch, you state something without facts and write your opinion as if it was fact. The truth of all countries is an overpopulated Earth with people seeking to better their livelihood from countries that are well endowed with a history of improved lives. All countries have some immigration, but it appears that America, Britain, Canada Sweden, Finland, Norway and in much of Europe there is a migration of people around the world seeking refuge and independence from a depressed society. It is a pleasure to be recognized in America as a country that people struggle to immigrate into our society, but it is a disgrace to see the citizens of America to deny them an opportunity.

Has anybody accomplished a research on what happens to the people and children, if America sends them back to their homelands? I recall a news report indicated some will be killed. It must be off American citizens minds that they advocate for sending them back from where they came from, even if it may mean their deaths. Such a kindly American society we have promoting less for humanity.

And again AMC,you refuse to look at the "cause"; it is caused due to that in poor society's, kids are used to get income for their parents; on top of this most religions promote such. Kids of 9 years old already have a lifetime of work under terrible conditions behind them. Parents in these poor situations certainly have no money for birthcontrol, let alone that churches promote such. Thus this situation just continues and will get worse; ever been in India, Bangla Desh; they cut of the legs of babies and put them on the side of the street in a hundred degrees with a tin can besides it; where the family may catch a few rupee's. In South America may be not so terrible, but the catholic church is there the biggest culprit.
Your suggestion to just be sorry for them, will not help unless you tackle the origin of the problem and that is birthcontrol.
