Well, a S. American final is looking unlikely. At the 25 minute mark it's now 4 - 0 Germany. WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5-0 Germany only 30 minutes in.

This is a worse blowout than the Super Bowl!

Let me know what the final is...I can't watch anymore.

Does Brazil burn their city (or their country) like Detroit does after a bad loss?

It ended in 7-1; wow. However tomorow the Dutch will meet the Argentine team; so I keep my fingers crossed; as long as the referee is not an Latino or an anti Dutch person then we may have a chance. But we can't complain making it this far. Hup Holland Hup !!! Laat de leeuw niet in z'n hempie staan" (what means: Do not let the (Dutch) lion stand in a shirt alone (without pants) The lion is part of the national emblem of the Netherlands.

The Dutchies defeated Brazil with 3-0 ; so they got a third place; not too bad for such a small country; I'll drink to that!!

At the 75 minute mark it remains tied at zero. I must admit I'm cheering for Argentina. The underdog. Plus I'm not fully over the Holocaust thing so I have a second reason as well. So far a great match.

Germany won; the game was much like it was against the Dutch; sorry I was cheering for Germany; they are part of an integrated Europe; the Nazi's are long gone; a lot of them fled to Argentine; so I guess their sons battled the new breed of Europeans.

I enjoy watching the World Cup soccer games and soccer in general. But in competing with American football it is at a disadvantage for lack of commercial time.

A typical soccer match is 90 minutes of playing time plus maybe 6 minutes of injury time and 15 minutes of half time. That's 111 minutes for 90 minutes of playing time. Most of the commercials are squeezed in at half time.

An American football game is 60 minutes of playing time, some of that standing around between plays while the clock is running. They have commercial breaks at the quarters, half time and 2 minutes warnings plus between scores, punts, red flag protests and injuries. So the 60 minutes of playing time stretches out to over three hours.

The TV ratings were very high for the World Cup, but the TV revenue for American football will always be higher.
