The Washington Post has reported that U.S. special forces conducted a raid and captured Ahmed Abu Khattala, one of the suspected ringleaders of the attack on the American consulate in Benghazi back in 2012. The joint operation with the FBI successfully nabbed Khattala inside of Libya and transported him to a location outside of the country. Khattala has already had charges filed against him in US Federal Court and will be extradited back to America to face those charges.

This is a major win for the Obama Administration and one that directly rebuts the President's countless critics who think he wasn't doing enough to catch those responsible for the 2012 attack. We will still undoubtedly hear from numerous critics who will try to make this about them or question why it took so long, but they will be largely marginalized because they now don't have their favorite talking point about the President doing nothing to catch those responsible for the attack.

What do you think about today's capture? Will the President get the credit he deserves for ordering a daring and unilateral operation to nab Khattala or will we see the same hate filled rhetoric from the right? A major part of their talking points are no longer valid. I wonder what they will come up with next.

Most Americans are over Benghazi. However Repubs on a Jihad won't be happy ever. What would they like ? NY trial and a public execution. A long stay in Gitmo ?

Perhaps now this ringleader can now explain whether or not a Youtube video was the cause for this attack, and as a side note , whether or not it was a spontaneous reaction or a well planned attack.

It realy does not matter at all; the next terrorists are already recruted to do the same things; as long as we follow a stupid foreign policy and use our drones on everything what moves then l'histoire ce repete.

Needing the answers to those two basic lingering questions would go a long way towards giving Obama and his Administration some much needed creditability against his critics when it comes to a foreign policy and also Hilary might gain some vindication for the now much repeated remark of" What difference does it make".

Good point johnny will this guy say that it was a planned attack, or will he say it was because of the video?

Or will he say anything at all? Or will he tell the truth? Or will he say what his American interrogators tell him to say? Or will it be reported to the American media/public that he said what did not really say? HMMMM. Lots of possibilities.

Will they treat him as a regular criminal or a war criminal? Civil trial or Gitmo?

What took so long to get this guy since we allegedly knew where he has been hiding out in plain sight?

"What difference, at this point, does it make?"

Indeed; more people get killed per day by gun violence here, compared to this whole occasion; so why all the fuss? All the cost related to this could have helped a poor family here. I guess our attention is focussed on the wrong things.

To the republicans and Tea Partiers, Benghazi is their mantra to oppose Hillary and any Democrat running for office. The classic example is Cruz that beats down every media event using Benghazi as his club. The greatest reply was accomplished by Hillary, "What difference does it make?". However, now that we have possibly a player in the Benghazi attack, maybe some questions will get answered. From what I have heard from a reporter investigating for the media Benghazi, this person America has to go to trial, he provided some answers that would go against what Hillary's opposition desires. The Republicans and Tea Partiers will be saying he is lying or he is not the right captured suspect.

I did find very interesting on NBC News tonight that Obama has never placed any terrorist or captured person in Gitmo since being in the Presidency. If that is true than Obama is having to deal with the lawlessness of a previous administration placing suspects in a prison and not giving them a trial. I find it appalling that many politicians lock people up in a prison environment without a trial or officiated charges. GITMO is like a bad present to Obama given by a previous administration. I realize Obama desires to close GITMO, but he is at odds with most politicians and having to balance the legality of using the courts. I believe that most GITMO prisoners can not have a fair and impartial proceedings in law. Additionally, if there was an abundance of evidence against the GITMO prisoners, don't you think that their would have been a trial already?

As a matter of fact, he said exactly that. I encourage you to read his account of what happened. Will you finally believe that it may not have happened the way you so wish it would have, or do you think he is lying? I know you and all Republicans might be upset that he backed up what the Administration said all along, but can you actually accept that maybe you were wrong?

"What he did in the period just before the attack has remained unclear. But Mr. Abu Khattala told other Libyans in private conversations during the night of the attack that he was moved to attack the diplomatic mission to take revenge for an insult to Islam in an American-made online video."

I would be hesitant to take anything for truth with this guy, he first admitted to being at the Consul but only as a would be rescuer, now he claims in this article that it was a partial reason for participating in the attack although he refrained from mentioning it earlier, I hope the long boat trip is not an attempt to couch his answers because that would wreck any chance of a fair trial.

Considering on what is happening now in Iraq; does it really matter? Just wait till that huge embassy in Baghdad gets blown up; who are we going to catch then? Sorry the US has become an "after the fact" country. Seldom we look at the cause and try to tackle that.

We have not been a Pro-Active country since after the Bush war, citizens no longer believe the hype nor lies the Government spews out on a daily basis, so we end up being a re-active government with so many hands in the pot prior to any decision being made that the final decision almost seems like a after thought . The security of the country is nothing more than a talking point now, it's whatever the party's agenda needs or wants first, "The By the People and for the People" is also just another talking point.

This is where I have to call you out. You have consistently claimed we were doing nothing to catch the perpetrators of the Benghazi attack. That has proved to be false. You have consistently claimed that the video had nothing to do with the attack. That has also proved to be false. Your response is 'I would be hesitant to take anything for truth'. What does it take for you to accept that you are wrong? I understand you have a distaste for our President, but will you ever accept that your opinion about what happened that night might, in fact, be incorrect? Or will you keep coming up with ways to try to prove that your point of view is correct? Sometimes it's smarter to just accept that you are wrong.

What do either of you mean? The security of this country is nothing more than a talking point now? Our government spends $618 Billion per year on 'defense'. How do you call that a talking point? And 'By the People, For the People' is still alive and well. We get what we vote for. You want something different? Vote for something different.
