It's called social and political evolution, America should be minding their business elsewhere, especially inside the potential explosion of a new middle east war that includes Israel. Iraq is becoming "Iraq", as America is taking a back seat and Russia is starting up a weapons campaign to supply Iraqi groups. The only thing America should be supplying Iraq is advisors and hopefully it is to the right group that will form alliances in their country. Iraq may be carved up into new social groups resulting in a Kurdish country to the North and Sunni and Shitte splitting the remaining country into their respective areas. It will be still be about oil and who controls the oil will reap the bounty of future goals. Even the Saudi's are getting involved, so now America has an opportunity to just sit back and let Iraq evolve into "whatever". Israel is the bigger story at the current world moment.

We still have major Afghanistan campaigns and I foresee America backing out as goals are achieved for Afghans to be in control of their nation. Iran and Pakistan appear to be resolving their internal threats and becoming more humane players in our small world. As China is flexing their desire for the South China Sea and islands within, America has a concern for our Southeast Asia and Japan partners. Russia is backing off eastern Europe, so it appears, but America, NATO and United Nations will maintain vigilance.

However, all that is occurring around the world, Israel and middle east is the major concern for the world. A major war is starting to blossom with Israel defending their country, which is Israel's right to defend from rockets raining down on their nation. Israel or any attack, nuclear or continued bombing is resulting in sending in the tanks and aircraft into neighboring countries. This is a big reason why Egypt is attempting brokering a peaceful resolution.

America should leave Iraq alone and let their people decide the outcomes, but keep vigilant in the world on terror and assist our partners in freedom around the world.

Yes I fully agree on your vision; but do not forget the "money" play in all of this; for instance the "oil"; Also I'm still wondering about our Embassy of 6 football fields and 5000 employee's; could not be just to provide visa's etc. I guess .

I just wonder if this is an political game to get the attention off this happening, because of the total mismanagement of the whole Iraq war etc. It also may mean that the US is doing things there which we are not allowed to know and are being blindsided on.
It is very strange indeed, but I think the answer is actually quite simple: the American media has the shortest attention span that one could possibly imagine. Iraq was last weeks news. That's an eternity in modern 'journalism.' I don't think anything is being censored, but I'm quite sure the Obama Administration and anyone who wants Iraq back out of the news is just fine with it being off the front pages again. The last thing this Administration wants to deal is war hungry conservatives out there on the news calling for new involvement in Iraq.

I don't necessarily agree with you that we are doing things there that we don't want to reach the news. The media would not let them get away with that and would make it front page news again. We don't have the capacity to do anything in that country without someone noticing it, and the last thing Obama wants to do is drag us back into the quagmire that is Iraq. You think his approval ratings are low currently? Wait and see what they would look like if he said we are going back in there. I think this story has far more to do with our incompetent media than any conspiracy to drag us back into war.

Yesterday on the news, they spoke about Iraq. They had thought the "bad guys" would slow oil production. That did not happen. This and Libya's production levels are part of why gasoline prices are at such low levels. Locally is around 3.25 per gallon of regular gas. Reason is high levels of oil on the market.
