What has our youth come to? Two twelve year old girls decided to kill their classmate; they planned it in details; they would stab her and make sure the blood could run away into a drain. They carried it out in a camping site bathroom with a drain in the floor . They stabbed her 19 times. but somehow she survived (I did not hear the latest on her condition etc.) WHAT IS GOING ON IN THIS COUNTRY? I guess it is time to review this "mentality". The guilty one's are the media which can not be curtailed related to "killing" content; freedom of speech, I guess. Most parents nowadays have no time for their kids; so the "cell phone and I-Pad, TV" educates them. How can we change this horrible trend?

There was something on the news about these girls being influence by a Mythical person called the " Slender Man", I think they said it's an internet thing, I am at a loss for what they are referring too. I guess it's fair to say that the parents of these girls were not monitoring their girls activities as far as the Internet is concerned, I am not accessing blame here but it is a failure of our culture to allow this type of influence on our children, although there might be underlying cause's for these girls actions, but whose to say?, This is a truly horrific act done by ones so young. BTW, the victim has survived her wounds and may well be on the road to recovery after being stabbed 19 times.

Yep the internet is raising our kids more than our parents are raising our kids.

Internet, cell phones, video games, violent movies, no discipline in the schools...the parents allow their kids to be raised by all these outside influences, instead of raising their kids themselves.

And it's getting worse every day...

We can yearn for the good old days when kids just stayed in their parents basements and read comic books and played violent video games instead of actually trying to kill each other!

"Slenderman" is a character that pops up in several images, videos, and horror stories from around the world. I always seem to get lured into this stuff and investigate as much as I can. But with this character it's really strange. If you google pictures, you will see it's hard to make out what everyone is talking about. It is a oddly tall figure (usually standing around 8-10 feet) mostly human silhouette like, standing in the background. It would most definitely be one of the easier put off stories due to it has nothing else other than the fuzzy as usual pictures. What I'm confused about, is if the girls said the were trying to impress the actual... lets say "thing", or a screen name named that. The news has not cleared that all the way up. But it does state that the girls where trying to impress him, so to do that, they must kill.

I heard that it involved demonology. That the girls were made to fear this character. Sounds bad on all levels.
There's a wiki page with all the story/history on Slenderman.
I think bad parenting was a major factor here.

Two 12 year old girls with even HALF of the amount of intelligence and common sense of an average 12 year old, would know that this Slenderguy is fictional and he can't be impressed.

Sounds more like they are just using this as an excuse for their bad behavior.

Well, the judge of this case called for a competency hearing for one of the two girls involved in the stabbing. As said before, If these girls were smart enough to plan an attack and execute in the vicious manor they did. Then they should have a trial treating them as such. If they rule in favor of this, then the girl will do a few years in a hospital (maximum till shes 18) then she will be released to do it again at some point. A person capable of this will always be capable I think. I am not saying whether it's a jail cell or a hospital will make any difference. But I do think jail would be better. Atleast jail would be scarier to her and perhaps make her not want to think of it again. Along with the mental help she would get by phyciatrist there. A hospital would not have a real fear to it as if she is in trouble for doing a bad thing.

I don't really know what critters and demonic symbols are out there to influence our youth, but I HATE all the wild violent culture being created to make our kids think the world is just one big orgy of violence. It is the MASSIVENESS of it that is really scarey. You probably can't find anyplace in the USA where they don't play nutso video games and watch gorey criminally insane movies. What can possibly keep our kids out of the booby hatch?
