Over the past couple of years there has been several threads on the subject of Child Slavery, Prostitution, and Human Trafficking. Rereading some of the responses just gives me cause for concern for those that take lightly on the subject of Children and Women as victims. The responds on these threads lay partly blame on the victims as it's their choice or the environment they are raised in. There appears no critical thinking on the true causes of Human Trafficking in Children and Women, but only a numbing thought to, "that's the world we live in.". What is extremely naïve in beliefs are the responses that say, "if it's legal, it's ok." and these responses deny the criminal impact to the legal sex industry. Groo ming of children has been conducted for decades as teaching them for the sex trade at an early age, than when they turn 18..........it's legal. This is a sick mentality.

The past threads are as follows:
    Pro-Life Hypocrisy ............3-25-13
    26,000 Sexual Attacks in Military............5-10-13
    Missing Children, Person Reporting ...........5-9-13
AF sexual Prevention Officer Arrested - This is lower than Worm Crawlin ........5-6-13
Another Pastor Arrested for Attempted Assault and Church Ignores Children ..........5-5-13
Human Trafficking (including Legal Prostitution) Dehumanizes our Humanity ..........1-30-14
Dutch Children are the Happiest in the World .............1-29-14 (although they incorporate children in Human Trafficking)
Prostitution and Porn Increases Human Trafficking ...........2-27-14
And the New Hero's are:....................11-15-13 (Pornography & Children)
    A Few Bad Things...........5-5-14

Amongst these threads are links and information on Human Trafficking, Child and Women Slavery in the Sex Industry, and many, many opinions on Legal Prostitution. I guess those children they rescued in Nevada this week and arrested the scum for kidnapping and child sex slavery was legal. The reports on the internet is enormous with most very critical on the sex trade industry. This industry breeds terror in humanity and children be safe at home. Here are some search bar subjects: "Child Slavery Facts", Child Slave Trade Aids Sex Industry", Child Slave trade Aids Legal Prostitution".

    Here is a link: http://www.gvnet.com/humantrafficking/Netherlands.htm
It is about Human Trafficking and Modern day Slavery and shows a link where Canada was considering legalizing prostitution but delays a decision because Amsterdam admits legalization was a failure.

Support Groups: ECPAT (End Child Prostitution), Veronica's Voice ( a view from a sex slave), Breaking Free & Sage Project (Standing against global exploitation), Bilateral Coalition (combats slavery & human trafficking)

I fear for the Nigerian girls that were kidnapped as I hold out hope for a safe return. The world is desiring their flesh as sex slaves and abuse, so they may end up in several countries around the world (Africa, Asia, Europe, America, Orient). It is going to take a lot of work to help, but it doesn't help by ignoring the problem and giving passes to legal prostitution.

AMC, no big deal; may be more in the media now; this has been going on for ages but gets more attention now; when I was in Nigeria the same thing happened all over, also in the far east, like Thailand etc. So nothing new; even within the States kids get sold every day.
This is going on for hundreds of years and will be difficult to stop because of culture/religion and being poor, as well no birthcontrol in those countries, let alone abortions. Thank you religion!! In Bangla Desh babies get their legs chopped of and then put on the side of the road in 100 degree temps with a tin can, hoping people will put money in it. Reason; people there can not afford to have kids!! So look at the "root" of the problem; could it be religion?

    Dutch --

You call attention to an ugly truth. Here is an extract from Slate regarding beggars in the streets that are often maimed to get sympathy fro tourists:

    Slate: Keep the Change

"In India, roughly 60,000 children disappear each year, according to official statistics. (Some human rights groups estimate that the actual number is much higher than that.) Many of these children are kidnapped and forced to work as beggars for organized, mafia-like criminal groups. According to UNICEF, Human Rights Watch, and the U.S. State Department, these children aren't allowed to keep their earnings or go to school, and are often starved so that they will look gaunt and cry, thereby eliciting more sympathy—and donations—from tourists. And since disabled child beggars get more money than healthy ones, criminal groups often increase their profits by cutting out a child's eyes, scarring his face with acid, or amputating a limb. In 2006, an Indian news channel went undercover and filmed doctors agreeing to amputate limbs for the begging mafia at $200 a pop. (Who knows how the little boy I met in New Delhi lost his legs.) To prevent the children from running away, traffickers often keep kids addicted to opium or other drugs."

"And it's not just India. According to one U.S. State Department report, a man in Shenzhen, China, can earn as much as $40,000 per year by forcing enslaved children to beg. Horrific examples of trafficking in children (and the elderly) for the purposes of organized begging have been found in countries all over the world: Bolivia, the Philippines, Bangladesh, Senegal, Pakistan—even Austria, other European countries, and the United States. No country is immune to human trafficking. And when trafficked children get too old to beg effectively, they often graduate into forced prostitution, the black-market organ trade, or other gruesome fates."

It's a tough reality to face, and many Americans simply do not want to know about this. For those of us that have traveled in foreign countries and seen these beggars first hand, it is hard emotionally. But we were told not to give and we don't because it only perpetuates the crime.

"Schmidt" thanks; I'm glad you wrote that; people here often look only at the end result but seldom at the cause of any such problem.
95% of Americans have not worked in such countries, so they only judge what they see in the media here; so they have no clue at all.
Like you said about India; yes I've seen that also with my own eyes. The same in Somalia; these kids are sold into slavery if they still have their limbs.
The thing is most people here follow the "herd" mentality (as AMC) and close their eyes for reality and its cause.

    AMC,
Have you gotten the "I'm firmly against trafficking" tattoo yet ? But seriously, In Pakistan it doesn't involve the sex trade. Families are enslaved and they are busy making bricks. Seriously, they pour (whatever) into wooden molds and make crude bricks. I just want to clarify that if you look into it, there are those suffering slavery and sex is the last thing on their minds. One thing is certain though. Someone is profiting from the hard work of others and the govt./authorities hardly give a damn.

I'm so astonished as to the informative links on the Internet this subject. I placed a category in the search bar, "Ranking Countries in Sex Trade". The links show Russia and China as the worst offenders, however, read additional sources from this search and you will find that America is country of choice for human trafficking........why.......money of course. This search revealed sources for definitions of Tier rankings.

Tier 1, which is where United States is ranked, is defined as government has recognized problem of human trafficking, makes efforts to address issue, and meets the TVPA (Torture Victim Protection Act) minimum standards.

Tier 2 rating indicates country does not meet the TVPA standards, but makes an effort to do so.

Tier 3 rating indicates country does not meet the TVPA standards and has no interest in doing so.

In looking at other links from this search, I found where North Carolina is ranked by the Polaris Project as a Top 10 state for human trafficking.

I found a world chart from http://chartsbin.com/view/548 that shows the world in human trafficking.

Another search method was "Sex trade verses forced labor". This also was interesting with more and different links to information and resources. Facts on human trafficking and smuggling. There as link on forced labor, prostitution at the United States - Mexico border...........no surprise here. Also from this search area I found an excellent PDF from Indiana on Human Trafficking as resourceful and current.

If more people would be energized to expose human trafficking, women and children abuse and prostitution for what it is as a crime, just maybe solutions to save people from this terror can occur. If we do nothing, the problem will get worse and close to home, which nobody desires that to happen.

    I'm PRO-CHOICE to the max.

I wish ALL girls and ALL women had access to doctors.

I wish all girls and all women had access to birth control. Can't think of anything better than working to help men and women be able to PLAN for the children they'd like to have and can afford to raise.

Bottom line ---- it's about CHOICE. And, I applaud the CHOICE to not give birth to babies that the girl/woman can't afford to raise.

MoiBree, Apparently, you don't understand that in most cases of prostitution, it is not by "choice", but by survival and being forced into a sex industry. Flesh is bought and sold like cattle and the people who engage in this activity by "choice" don't care what child they may bring into the world. So what happens to the child born by a prostitute? Don't even think that this child will have a god chance of being a good home. In many cases, these children are groomed adding to the child sex trade and eventually an adult prostitute. This circle continues as simply supply and demand economics. The selfish and greedy characters of people who engage in this activity only seek to satisfy their desires for flesh and do not care about the human residue they leave behind. No, it's not about choice, because if it was, prostitution would be less significant than it is today. I'm sure these women and child sex slaves caught in the sex industry would rather go to school, college and become more happy and social beings in our society. They were never offered this life, but caught into the sex trade of organized crime.

I am often saddened by the number of children inside the sex trade. I searched on "What happens to children born by prostitution". Many links were shown on "Born in Brothels", Wikipedia, and child prostitution by http://gvnet.com/childprostitution/USA.htm which has many links within this site on US Prostitution using children.

On the second page of the above search subject, I found "FBI - Human Sex Trafficking", which is great information on the crimes to children that prostitution promotes.

It's horrible what is going on around the world, but do not think for one second that prostitution is a choice. If your confronted with intimidation by organized crime, you survive until you no longer can. Legalization of prostitution provides State sanction to the assertion that women (and children) are sex objects. Although people will always say it is illegal to prostitute children, those same people are ignorant to the mass number of children within the sex trade. Crime does not separate adults from children............it's a business of supply and demand. If the customer wants children he/she will pay for it........it's a business that does not care about humanity. If you have an opportunity to ask a child that has been abused by sex, just try and ask, "Did you have a Choice?". If you have an opportunity to ask an adult involved in prostitution, just ask, "Did you have a Choice?". Psychologists have identified that many long career prostitutes have a mental issue that contributes to their decisions to continue in the sex trade. It gives them money for their vices, such as drugs, and it helps with their home bills or maybe even supporting their families. I bet they would rather have a good paying career that does not involve prostitution.

AMC as usual you do not understand what MoiBree is saying. It is time for you to learn to start with "A" and end with "Z"
As he pointed out the problem starts with giving birth to unwanted children because in most cases religion got its filthy rulings causing this.
So the cure is birthcontrol especially in poor area's as well abortions; "wanted" kids are likely not sold or put into the sex trade.
So who is the culprit here? Your favorite non-choice churches I guess.

As usual Dutch you refuse to read and gain information on those children caught up in a crime syndicate of sex slavery. Those "wanting" children you say, I bet most children born from prostitution would enjoy the better definition of "wanting" instead of their current wanting by crime to be sex and/or labor slaves. If only you would read the Internet links provided, if only you would open your ears, if only you would open your eyes, that grey matter between your ears would blossom to an informed human.

The world is not kind to children and women because of people refusing to understand or acknowledge the horror of prostitution (legal and illegal). The matter of choice is never giving to those caught in the web of organized crime. If people want you to be involved in prostitution they have the money and a strong arm to intimidate and force you into slavery. There is no choice, but only survival for many and to escape gets more difficult as more time is spent in slavery.

So, you should try reading and help the world assisting those in dire situations. Spread the word and antagonize those that refuse to believe or obstruct the advocacy for an end to child, women and adult slavery. Your definitely are on the wrong side of humanity by criticizing those that try to halt the spread of the sex trade, unless that is what you desire?

I guess as many times before that you are again lost somewhere. First of all read my thread again. "WANTED" kids who are loved by their parents because they are "wanted" and taken care of by the parents, likely do not end up into prostitution or are sold as slaves. GET THE PICTURE.
RELIGIONS are a huge cause of unwanted kids; mostly Catholics; Christian fanatics as well as all kind of Muslim denominations.
SO WAKE UP and look at the cause not the end result; poor people all over the world get into this situation because we rather hand out bibles instead of birthcontrol pills and education about life on this planet as well as food. Stopping prostitution or slavery does not take away the cause; you do not seem to understand logic. Suggest you visit Nigeria immediately; follow this up with a visit to India and Bangla Desh; may be then you wake up.
