I have a questions for the zealots. The show Cosmos is complete foolishness according to the religious right. Are Global Physicists wrong???

Cosmos just happens to be my favorite show at the moment. Objective and informative...... Who would you believe Neil de grasse or Jimmy Swaggart??

Cosmos is my favorite show currently running too. They are doing a fantastic job carrying on the spirit of wonder and objectiveness that Carl Sagan exemplified so well in the first installment in 1980. I think its also hilarious how much Tyson (and Sagan) both poke fun at religion in almost every episode. They are not afraid to point out when belief trumped or trumps reason throughout human history and thinking, and how great it is that we have either evolved our collective thinking past that with science. Or how science will eventually shed light on our current superstitions.

The thing that grabs me about the show is I'm actually learning. Incredible when you see just how much the knowledge of our Universe has progressed.
These physicists are damn near genius. Also, before science can publish the theory goes through rigorous scrutiny to which, if incorrect, the science community will acknowledge and address it.

I have not yet seen this. I love the topic so hopefully I'll tune in soon. Entertainment and knowledge at the same time..... not bad. I'm glad you seem to recommend it. I'll look it up and set it to record. (Done)
For others who aren't yet aware of this show.... it's on at 9pm EST (Sunday) on local (network - I don't know... I know our local channel but not the network. Seems to be FOX.

I recorded and watched this show this week. It was very interesting and very informative. I'd suggest the show to anyone who has interest in the topic.

It's an excellent program. There are mentions to religious persecution of scientific discovery in the first few episodes, that I saw, and this is likely the part that riles up religious ideologues. Then, there's the mention of science, which itself pisses off a lot of people. For folks like that, Lewis Black was right: they find the Flinstones more informative than any science documentary.
