The new film Divergent is set to hit the box office next week and if it is anything like the recent teen dystopian society movies, it will be a smashing hit. The film is based off the book series of the same name and is based in a futuristic Chicago where everyone is placed into select neighborhoods based off five distinct personality types. Each year there is a test that every sixteen year old takes to determine their personality type, which they then must decide if they want to stay with their family or move to the neighborhood that suits their personality. Shailene Woodley plays the lead role and is backed up by Theo James and Ashley Judd.

This book series follows in the footsteps of 'The Hunger Games' series, which was one of the highest grossing books and movie series of all time. I don't really know what I think about all of these recent series that depict a society that has completely crumbled and people are placed into specific groupings. I've always been turned off by the whole "doom and gloom" future that always seems to be right around the corner.

Has anyone read the Divergent series or planning to go watch the movie next week? Let us know what you think of it if you do.
