This season of 'Survivor' does something pretty interesting with the format of the show. It's still a winner take-all, hardcore mind game elimination that ultimately culminates in the 'sole survivor', but this time around the contestants are broken down into 3 main groups: Brains, Beauty and Brawn.
The creators of the show say that brains, beauty and brawn are the 3 main attributes needed in order to win 'Survivor'. You need brains to screw people over, to play 'chess' with everyone, to outsmart the other scheming would-be victors, and also to win some of the more mentally perplexing challenges the show's game makers throw at you.
You need beauty, as a player, to attract alliance members, to gain like-ability, to have other people notice you and to lull them into a false sense of trust. Beauty really is a valuable survival skill and attribute; those that possess it naturally (or learn it via polished personality) do very well in the game of 'Survivor'.
Lastly, the most obvious trait of the show needed is brawn, or brute strength. Given the psychical nature of most all the challenges, having strong core strength, high endurance, lots of muscle and the perseverance to push through the really straining parts of a back-breaking challenge is extremely valuable as well.
It's interesting the parallel here; these 3 attributes are all needed and valuable in equal amounts in the game of 'Survivor'. The right combination/ratio surely could be an easy path to victory, as long as you play it right. Same could be said about life in general. Not a stretch at all. ... I think that's why this show has been so popular, for so long. In a lot of ways, its a microcosm of the real world.
