Even though there were several rumors all but seeming to confirm that Manny Pacquaio would be fighting Floyd Mayweather in September of 2014, Mayweather has come out to officially debunk all of those rumors.
Mayweather said he will only consider to fight Pacquiao (the No.1 ranked pound-for-pound fighter in the boxing world) if and only if Pacquiao is no longer working with Bob Arum. Bob Arum is the CEO of Top Rank, a boxing promotional company that is a budding rival with Mayweather's promotional team, Golden Boy.
Mayweather has publicly said he "will never do business" with Bob Arum and Top Rank. Pacquaio's under contract with Top Rank until the end of 2014. Therefore, no fight will take place between the two of them in the 2014 calender. If Pacquaio does go another way with promotions in 2015, the two may very well duke it out in the ring then. And that fight has the potential to destroy all PPV (pay per view) ratings in the past; people have been clammering over this potential bout for a long time now. I have been hearing fans all but demanding that this fight needs to happen for at least the last 2 years. And for good reason, Pacquaio and Mayweather are the best boxers going. Pacquaio, in my opinion (pound for pound) possibly the best ever. Mayweather is undefeated and the best match-up potential to take him on for maximum competition is no doubt Manny Pacquaio.
You know where this thread is going... c'mon guys... who would win, if and when this fight finally takes place? 'Money' Mayweather or 'Pac Man'? Would love to hear your predictions on not just who would win, but why and how?
