In his glorious personal style, he could engage you with wit & charm, but rivet your mind with rapid-fire information, and bring you to your knees with admiration for his impeccable knowledge and linguistic skills. Some nights he made me laugh, & some nights he made me cry, but he never made me sorry I had tuned in. I only wish we could get him back at MSNBC (along with the other greats):

In MEMORY of his talents, this VIDEO on the Tea Party is presented here:

FABULOUS !!!!!!! It was a long video but I loved it. It's true, his talents are being wasted on sports currently. Nobody in the "news" speaks this intelligently, as convincible or as factual. I think this was a great piece to watch. Thanks for sharing it. I hope more members watch it. It's good for you.

I loved KO also. He could take a story that I wasn't even interested in, and make me watch. The problem is that he has been fired from so many jobs that he's lucky to have his current late night sports show.

He just can't stay out of trouble with the brass.

Can anybody tell me WHY he was fired? He is a helluva nice guy, & has always been charitable & kind hearted. He used to spend a few hours a week, reading a favorite author to his father (who was in the hospital - dying) & maybe the brass didn't like that. But I hate to see him doing sports shows at this time, since his insight & courage are really NEEDED NOW to get the American Public "motivated" to GO VOTE. We are in the worst mess of our entire History, and with 50 millionaires lining up to HEAP $cash$ on the Tea Party crowd, it will take a real MIRACLE to WIN this next election. I am not kidding. Meanwhile the GOP are probably inciting Putin to more action, to make Obama look "weak" so they think they can use that to get more GOP elected. // WAR always feeds into the GOP mentality & voting crowd. // This is such weird timing, right after the wonderful showing that Russia made for the Olympics... showing off all their talents & beautiful country with pride. It was beautiful to watch it all on satellite TV & just like being there. Now this mess with the Ukraine could ruin it all. // Hey, wouldn't it have been great if Keith had been the broadcasting voice for the Olympics? I'd have bought 3 truck-loads of popcorn & just camped by my TV set.

Google it and you can read about many of his jobs and the difficulties he has had.

ESPN -- Left under a cloud of controversy

    Fox Sports Net -- Fired

    MSNBC -- Suspended/departed the network

Current -- Fired then Keith and Current sued each other

ESPN -- Back at work but for how long?

There's lots of commentary on these and other jobs he has held. The above info is from wikipedia.

Thanks, Jamesn: I really appreciate your taking time to look it up. Yep, I am well aware that jobs can be transitory, educational, & full of some very unique relationships. To say the least : ) Until I look up your sources, I won't be qualified to comment on WHY Keith had those troubles, but I know it wasn't due to lack of knowledge, talent, or ability. CHEER UP, KEITH. Many of us are rooting for you, -- & WANT YOU BACK.

While you are looking up WHY Keith had his troubles with his employers, bear in mind that he is infamous for his temper, outbursts, being a terrible boss, one person called him the very definition of the hostile workplace environment. Cab drivers have reported his abuse. It goes on and on. There were many sources which referenced his "dark side". Just giving you fair warning.

So he may not be the ..."helluva nice guy, & has always been charitable and kind hearted"... as you describe him.

I love him as much as anyone when he's on TV, but his reputation says he may not be so wonderful when the camera is off. We don't REALLY know famous people when they are out of the public eye, you know.

As great as he is on TV, he seems to be just as big an A-hole off TV.

    Just telling the WHOLE story.

Wow... That's allot of differently opinionated 'bosses'.

Sorry I have not had the opportunity of checking out those references yet, but will try later on tonight. I just do not see why we should be "on the attack" already, this early in the game. Can't we EVER say anything NICE about anybody? I tend to think Keith is a "liberal" and that is a hard thing to be in America as we know it, these days. The world is full of Right-Wingers who are deliberately offensive, & they think they have the right to Rule the World, just because of --- $ excessive money $ --- that they can use for deceit & bribery.

I am still idealistic enough to believe in TRUTH, JUSTICE & the AMERICAN WAY.
(Yeah, I know it is somewhat naiive). But that's why I like Keith Olbermann).

Lots of opinionated bosses. Yes, to be sure and that's a partial list. Keith has been employed, and unemployed in a pretty impressive bunch of media jobs over the years. Maybe it's Keith's fault, maybe not. His talent is unquestioned. His temperment IS questioned.

Now who is "on the attack"? I am just telling you what has been reported over the years about Keith and his behavior, and it's well documented. I love watching him on TV, but have heard many accounts of what an awful person he is. Maybe he has improved lately.

The fact that he's a "liberal" does not mean he is a nice person or an awful person. It just means he's a liberal. We know him from TV, we don't know him from his life off TV.

    I like Keith too...on TV.

Thank you for clearing that up, Jamesn. It is a bit like if I was to jump on the attack about one of your favorite sports heroes. It may get you a little bit angry. To me, a good newsman or reporter, or media person is MY HERO, & as far as I am concerned, they do much more to enhance our life & lifestyle in America, than ANY basketball team, or hockey player, etc. (You know what I mean: )

Hey, do you remember SuperMan? He was by day a mild-mannered reporter, often acting a little bit like a wimp, & YET, if there was any kind of Emergency that occurred, he would dash into a telephone booth, rip off his clothes & underneath VOILA' --- there was SUPERMAN!! I don't know at what age I began to see the actual Analogy. That our American news reporters, due to their first hand knowledge of all the problems in Gotham City, and having the "power" of the Press, often acting with the police & mayors, etc ---- could deliver to the average citizens the TRUTH, and JUSTICE, & the American Way. It's funny how childhood images can last for a lifetime.

Thomas Jefferson said if he had to choose, between Govt without the Press ----- or the Press without a Govt, -- he would choose the LATTER. He realized the absolute importance of a Free Press, to keep a nation prosperous & truly FREE.

Speaking of our various Heroes: VIDEO: "I Need a HERO" ---- Bonnie Tyler

I don't know what you think I cleared up. I just told what I know about KO. You are welcome to ..."jump on the attack"... about one of my favorite sports heroes. As long as you tell the truth, I assure you I won't get angry.

A good analagy-TV talking heads and sports heroes, especially since Keith has a sports background. We see what they do when they are performing for us on TV or on the field, but we usually don't really know what they are like when they are not performing for us or are away from the camera.

Maybe Keith is like Superman...or maybe he is like Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.

I liked KO when he was on but I think you're correct about Dr, J & Mr. H!

Too many of these TV "personalities" are like this, unfortunately. Ego trips and self importance isn't just a Faux News peculiarity.

And not just TV "personalities", famous actors, politicians, big time athletes, famous people of all kinds are many times not what they seem.

They have their public life and then their private life and many times those are VERY different. We have no idea what they are REALLY like.

While we are on the topic, which talk show host, comedian, news anchor, or radio spokesman do YOU like? Any favorites? Are you fans of Rushbo? He is an EZ guy to lampoon, but mostly because he lies all the time. However, that guy Rush has been threatened with being kicked off the air a dozen times, since he's been sponsored. And I know he was already well known by 1985. There were even bumper stickers that said "Rush is Right," & every small business store (like coin shop or gun shop) had Rush playing on the radio when you walked in. It was hellish to a liberal to have to listen to all the snarky comments, in those days. But it had become a "religious ritual" for most GOP to listen to Rush every day. And it was during the time of President Reagan, -- when he wasn't quite senile yet. Oh, the Good Old Days.
