For all of you who live in states that have Powerball and you have a dollar or two on your hands, you might want to go grab yourself a ticket before tonight's drawing. The $400 million jackpot is the sixth-largest jackpot in U.S. lottery history. Before you go out and spend your life savings on tickets, you need to be aware that your chances of winning are 1 in 175 million regardless of how many tickets you purchase. So I would think twice before levering your next paycheck on a cache of tickets and keep it to a minimum.

My thoughts on the lottery are varying. While I have never played before, I have nothing against the fun of buying a few tickets in the hopes of making it big. Regardless of the statistics that show most winners wind up bankrupt because they have no idea how to spend the money that they won, if you want to go spend a few dollars on something, who am I to judge? I just hope that whoever wins, if there is a winner tonight, thinks twice before they go start buying everything under the sun. Hundreds of millions of dollars can go a long way. There's no need to go spend it all tomorrow!

Is anyone planning on buying a ticket for tonight's drawing? If so, do you play often or are you only buying one because of the huge jackpot?

First of all, a buck leaves you on the outside looking in. A chance is 2 bucks. I have a ticket with 3 chances (lines of numbers) for two drawings. 3 chances = 6.00 and because it covers tonight's and Saturday drawing the ticket cost 12.00 If no winner tonight, the next drawing will probably approach 500 million. Yes I'm aware the odds are like 1 in 175 million. But you've got to play to win. And my odds are 3 in 175 million.
Tonight's jackpot is 400 million, Cash payout minus taxes leaves you with about 1/3 or 133 million. First thing would be hiring a good lawyer and a good financial advisor. Second would be protecting 40 million for a rainy day. Next would be several very safe investments. Buy some stuff to make you happy, but don't be an idiot. You should never have another financial concern. Nor should your parents, children, brothers and sisters. You can't make everyone's life easy though. Help people but don't carry people.
