After 22 years as the host, Jay Leno is doing the same thing that Johnny Carson did for him, he's handing over 'The Tonight Show' to the next guy in line. In this case, NBC is going with Jimmy Fallon. Leno's last show was last night.

This is actually the second time Leno has announced his stepping down from the job. But, the first was more of a controversy than anything completely official. This time, it's for real and final. Jay Leno won't be on late night tv every night any longer. Think Fallon will be able to aptly replace him? I mean, I like Jimmy Fallon decently I guess. But, I'm not sold. I've been a fan of Leno for years, and it kind of sucks that he has to leave before he is ready. Leno made it clear he was being fired and this 'choice' wasn't voluntary.

I think after 22 years of quality hostmanship, a man should be able to call a quits when he feels he is ready. But, I'm not dense. He himself even admitted the fact that he's 62 years of age, and there is a considerable "generation gap" that Jimmy Fallon will definitely be able to fill. Fallon is decades younger.

sb you say ..."This time it's for real and final. Jay Leno won't be on late night tv every night any longer."...

Probably right but we don't know that for sure. They said the same thing when Jay was replaced by Conan a few years back. It didn't work out and they brought Jay back. It could happen again.

More likely if he comes back, he would return in TV specials once in a while. Like Tom Brokaw who "retired" but shows up occasionally.

Or Jay could decide to come back with a different network, Conan came back like that on TBS I think, Letterman changed networks, too, so never say never.

But he's probably done, and I will miss him, too. Good luck to him in whatever he decides to do because he's earned it. I wouldn't be surprised if we see him again though.

I never liked Leno very much. I'm more of a Letterman fan. I respect that he has a very cool car collection. Goodbye Jay - enjoy your big money.
