The Super Bowl is back and with it comes some of the best commercials of the year, which makes sense considering the going rate for a 30 second spot this year will cost you $4 million dollars. Want to double that time? No problem--it will only cost you a cool $8 million. While multiple studies have shown that Super Bowl ads do not give nearly the return on investment that one would expect, something must work because other studies have shown that nearly half of the people that tune in to the Super Bowl do so to watch the commercials and could care less about the game itself.

In honor of this year's Super Bowl, here are my five favorite Super Bowl ads:

    5) MJ and Larry Bird Playing Horse

    4) Budweiser Frogs (1995)

    3) Ferris Bueller Honda Ad

    2) Betty White Snickers Ad

And you can't do a countdown list of Super Bowl ads without bowing down to the Apple 1984 Mac ad

Good thread..... I was going to post something but luckily checked first and saw that you already had.
This is about 2014 Super bowl commercials. First one is by Budweiser. It's called puppy love. On the internet
many are suggesting it will be the favorite commercial.
Next worthy of discussion is the commercial by Cheerios titled Gracie. It's been reported to be controversial and ruffling some feathers. Although it is 2014 and mixed race couples have been around for a long time....... they previously haven't visited our cereal commercials. That has some (racially sensitive people/racists) up in arms over a mixed race family and their child being on TV.
The super bowl always has great commercials. I think a percentage (who don't care about football) watch to see the commercials. When I did a (bing) search for super bowl commercials...... The Democratic Hub was the last item on the first page of the search. What do you know.

The best one was just a few years ago with the Darth Vader kid in the Volkswagon commercial. Best ever.

As far as the Cheerios mixed race couple, they will have a sequel in this years Super Bowl. An MSNBC staffer, not an on air talking head, got fired for for tweeting something offensive about it and if my radio guy is correct, the CEO(?) of MSNBC has apologized for it.

The first one was a successful commercial, Cheerios sales went up after it aired and I expect it will again, because the new one is just as good as the original.

Is it me or has MSNBC done a lot of apologizing and firing (forced resigning) for offensive stuff lately?

There hasn't been any of the Budweiser commercials that I didn't like ,I actually look forward to see what the new ones will be, the puppy love one is really good. I also like the car one with the gerbils, the little Darth Vader was special, I pretty much like most of them.

I don't remember the company, (maybe Go Daddy) but there was one a couple of years ago with cowboys out on the range herding thousands of cats. I thought that was funny. Yeah JC you're right.....Budweiser hires some great advertising people. The one where the guy raises a clydesdale who goes off to join the Bud national team, revisits Chicago where the guy goes to see them, horse goes by - nothing....after the parade the horse chases after him onto a side street where he was parked. Very cool, touching.

Tony about that ...Very cool, touching."... Bud commercial. I agree, it was good, and now it is being sequeled. This year will see the same guy, the same horse, and add the puppy and they will tie it all together somehow.

    It should be good.
