What hope is there? I'm 19 years old trying to get my life up and running and i' expected to sign up for a health care system that will ruin me and my income how is it fair to have to pay for something i do not wish for. An may i say if someone in the Government reads this i certainly hope you are offended because you are taking away many of my Constitutional rights. Is it not bad enough that in order to work in "our free lands" I have to conform to what modern society considers to be correct for a woman. I do not wish to be repressed any more. And I am certainly tiered of My Government "looking out for my best interest." you do not know me as an individual, so you most certainly do not know what is in the best for me. Now be so kind as to stop taking away My rights for this is suppose to be the land of the free, not the repressed.

You may not like it, but we are a land of laws. The Legislature passes them. The President signs them. And the Supreme Court determines if they are Constitutional. All three of these things happened with the Affordable Care Act.

Well its suppose to be affordable. but it is not affordable on a full time minimum wage job. so it is in my eyes and many others at my age a pointless concept and cruel to have something forced upon us we can not afford. and plus it is decided that i have to have insurance when i do not qualify for any because of my pre-exsisting conditions

If you are 19, you are eligible to stay on your parent's plan until you are 26. If you choose to pay that yourself, then at a minimum wage job you undoubtedly qualify for a subsidy. Have you even gone into Healthcare.gov and checked out what health insurance premiums would cost you and what subsidies you would qualify for? With the Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare) you cannot be denied coverage or be charged more for a pre-existing condition.

Well, you could always move to a country that doesn't have universal health care - if you find one, please let us know!

In the mean time (if you don't find anything) you can go on your parents plan and become a valued member of society, doing your part for everyone in this country instead of crying about yourself.

Try it for a change, you might be surprised and discove you feel better about life when you contribute to it!

You do not realize that i can not be on my family's insurance or their cost will go up. and i have had cancer in the last 5 years and was turned down by ObamaCare twice now. so excuse me for being bitter. and i contribute plenty to my community. i am an active member of my community i work i volunteer and i recycle. so please tell me i am crying about my predicament but i most certainly am not i am tiered of being told to do things and then not qualifying. So don't judge me about the face that i have decided to rant. cause i have that right it is one that has not been taken from me.

    TreeCortez --

Excuse me but you seem to be totally ignorant of the many facets of the Affordable Care Act. You CANNOT be turned down or charged more for a pre-existing condition. The policies under the exchange part of ObamaCare have not even been activated yet...not until January 1. Although you can apply now. So "ObamaCare" has not turned you down...not in the past...not now...not ever.

Turn off Fox News and go get some facts. If you don't want to get on the healthcare.gov exchange, then call the 1-800 hotline number.

    1-800-318-2596

You would be surprised how accommodating and helpful they are. Talk to them instead of complaining on this website. I would bet that with subsidies you can get a policy for under $100 per month...maybe as low as $50 per month.

Look at this way....in the event you're in a car accident or maybe at a restaurant having just contracted food poisoning......you'll need medical treatment that the rest of us will have to pay for at 3 times the cost because you were uninsured. Food, shelter, and medical coverage should be at the top of your priorities. If I can afford an iphone I should at least help pay the cost of medical coverage. You're nineteen years and will be 40 very soon. Yes, life moves that fast. It seems outrageous only because of your age.....trust me.....you need medical insurance.

As far as your rights.......how can they be "rights" if someone must extend these "rights" to you. We are not free, trust me. We get constitutional privileges at best. Your government isn't trying to look out for your interest at all .....our government isn't functioning because we aren't functioning as a citizenry that's duty bound in this democratic experiment we call the UNITED STATES. You do not have to conform to society only obey it's laws. Women have great opportunities in this country and compete with men equally....In fact, women do better then men at work. You women may just take over the world in the future.

Snake & Tree Cortez.............are they for real? I mean Tree Cortez isn't looking into Obama Care/ACA, she hasn't even tried because she has a formed mind by the opposition to the ACA. Ms. Cortez feels she has to fight with false knowledge armed with ignorance to the facts. I realize America is infiltrated by these people, bred by the Republicans and Tea Partiers and it is a partisan battle being fought here. To tap the youth in this country, I believe it is criminal to feed these young people with bogus agendas that only prey on their ignorance. I can understand Snake though, he is so adamant in his opposition to Government intervention using the ACA impacting his lifestyle that he cannot even .....BREATHE. Reading his two posts on this thread, the poor guy cannot even write a sentence, let alone end it with a period. This shows he may have a poor intellect incapable of grasping the ideals of improving America with intelligence. Snake has an issue and I believe it is more mental than rebellion.

These two are perfect examples of why the ACA must continue evolving into a better Health Care Plan. We all know that Obama Care/ACA has issues, but so did Medicare and Medicaid when they where initiated. America will get past these issues as our country struggles with improving the Health Care Act. My relatives in Canada and England all said similarly that their countries went through wars between the political parties and ill informed citizens. This is what America is going through currently with creating a Health Care system for all people. It is time to get better managed health care than just the few that pay enormous funds to give medical care to those without.

It will get better and sooner if Congress would only work together. This 2014, America needs to get rid of the dead heads in Congress. I like the notion of putting more women in Congress. There's too many men making decisions on what should be a woman's right to life. I agree that Obama care/ACA has problems and sorely needs improvements, but I do not agree to the opposition that it should be abolished. That is stupid, because abolishing the ACA now will delay benefits to millions needing health care. Let America improve the ACA to what is more agreeable with all people.

This entire Bill was pushed thru with a political agenda in mind, there was no partisian participation and very little debate, what debate there was , was all fear mongering, the Senate didn't read the Bill ,all that mattered was to pass it. Now we are reaping the whirlwind, with the mindset of ,if we repeal it what then?, now the Insurance companies are expecting a bail out, which btw was included in the Bill, because of the non-participation of the so-called young people, this was an idea born of ideologue and the expectation of a lasting legacy, damn the people, they don't know what's good for themselves anyway, in one the recent polls it was reported that close to 30% of the people who had enrolled ,had insurance before the ACA, and because of the ACA they lost their coverage, and a still larger portion were people who had coverage thru the various state Medicaid programs, unfortunately there were a lot more people who lost their coverage in order to insure those who didn't have coverage and some reports have that number higher than the number that were now eligible for coverage, so other than the Insurance Companies and the politicians ,who really benefits from this ill advised Law.

Wow, johnnycee...you've covered this before in this website. You've been watching too much Fox News. It's all the same BS.

If you don't know who benefits from this law, then you need to find another media source.

I highly recommend Media Matters. Just Google them

How can you deny the political agenda of this law, it was passed without a reading and also along straight party lines with no input from the opposition party, there was more time spent wrangling with the rules of passage rather than the merits or faults of the law, it was passed under the guise of health care for all and also it would be fair to all. And not just FOX News reporting this but all of the news stations are reporting the same facts, you must confuse political pundits shows as news reporting, I don't , however, I will tell you who benefits from this absurd Law, Insurance companies. I sure didn't considering that now I am paying close to $500.00 a month for my coverage which is supplemental, factor in also the $104 dollars my wife pays for Plan "B" and I pay $114 dollars for Plan "B" which brings the cost to over $700 a month, I was also notified to expect an additional rate increase at the end of this month, so clearly my wife and I didn't benefit from this law. So again the only ones who benefited from this law was the insurance companies, the young folks will still be treated at the ER's and pay the $95 fine rather then the pay the high cost premiums, the poor will still go to the ER and very few will be on preventive care, the cost of insuring the 4 million or so who were not covered came at the expense of the 10 or million who now have had their own coverage cancelled due to this bill. I suggest that you stop watching FOX news for your misinformation.
