Paul Walker, star of the "Fast and Furious" films, died Saturday in a single-car accident and explosion in Southern California. TMZ was the first to report it. Walker's Facebook page then confirmed. The TMZ report states the accident occurred in Santa Clarita, just north of Los Angeles. The actor was reportedly riding in a Porsche with a companion (person unknown at this time) when the car lost control for an unknown reason and hit a post or tree before bursting into flames. Unfortunately, neither survived. The report is also unclear on who was driving, at this point.

Walker was currently filming the seventh film in the "Fast and Furious" franchise. On November 29, the actor tweeted the following update:

The boys are back. Will you be ready? - #TeamPW #FastFridays

I was a fan. He will be missed. What a way to go for a man that made a career out of driving dangerously.

I have to admit I've never even heard of this guy but then again - what goes around comes around.

You drive fast, you get in accidents
You jump out of planes, your parachute doesn't always open
You drive drunk, you kill people or maybe yourself
You join the military, people try to kill you
    You own a gun, ...

I think you all get the concept!

The guy drove a 911 GT2; the problem is with the 2 wheel (rear) drive only and about 400 horses and rear mounted engine, than you can not ( if you had a few drinks) handle such; most people (as well celebrities) buy these cars and have no clue on how to drive these. Looking at the video of the accident; it shows a very wide road, thus the driver must have done something weird. Therefore I love my 4 wheel drive 911; solid as a rock sticks like glue on the road and I stick to speed limits.

I read where he was a passenger in the car, but maybe that hasn't been verified yet.

Fast cars, fast company = short life. Makes no difference who was driving! I'd go for a ride with Dutch but that's about all ;)

I'd bet that Dutch is not the only slow driver on this DemocraticHub!

This guy died as he lived, in a fast car being driven dangerously. Maybe that's the way he wanted to go, probably not this young, though.

If you don't move when the light turns green you'll know I'm behind you pretty quickly ;)

I guess then they must be even more stupid; I would let a horse pull the plow, not just "push" it by yourself!!
Anyway I wish you a lot of fun plowing in frozen ground (Up north) My feelimg is more or less that the "snowbirds" do it on purpose because they are on vacation so they party all night on weed and then the next day sleep behind the wheel.
Sorry to say the accident rate here in the county doubles when the snowbirds are here.

    Some updates on the crash:

Paul Walker was the passenger when the crash happened. The Los Angeles Times identified the driver as Roger Rodas, 38, a friend of Walker's who owned Always Evolving, an auto dealership and racing services company.

They are now also speculating that speed had something to do with the crash. While that's sort of an obvious statement even on first glance of the story, nothing has been confirmed and they are trying to find out exactly what might have happened, without jumping to conclusions. At any rate, investigators are starting to think that it's possible this was a drag race gone bad. There are many tire marks not far from the site of the crash.

sb as you say speed probably had something to do with the crash. I would say that speed was probably the main factor in the crash, maybe the only factor. It has been reported that the crash site was a on a street known for illegal racing.

Illegal street racing was the subject of his movies and it looks as though it was the cause of his death. There may have been other factors such as mechanical failure, but if they were racing, a mechanical failure could mean the difference in an inconvenient breakdown and a fatal accident.

Production of the movie he was making has been suspended. We will never know how many other car crashes and deaths by illegal street racing were inspired by these movies. Far too many, I would guess.
