For the second time in six months, Dale Peterson, an Alabama Republican state official who became famous for his tough on crime stances, was arrested on charges of shoplifting. Mr. Peterson was videotaped eating a can of cashews and then putting the empty can back on the shelf at a Sam's Club. He was confronted by store security on his way out and was subsequently arrested. Back in October, Mr. Peterson was arrested for attempting to steal beer and paper towels from a Walmart.
