Trump Undervalued How Much Money He Owes to Foreign Entities by $1.5B

Overview of this Controversy

Date Originated: January of 2017
Categories: Donald Trump
Donald Trump reported $315 million in debt obligations to foreign entities during the Presidential campaign, but that number is far higher if you take into account the debts "lent to partnerships that are 30%-owned by him." The total of those debts is $1.5 billion spread throughout dozens of countries. As President, Trump will have the ability to appoint regulators who will be responsible for investigating and regulating the financial institutions that have lent him money which is something that can create a clear conflict of interest.
